All of my fallout 3 ESMs and BSAs are DIFF files

Post by Puntley » Fri Jan 10, 2014 9:28 pm

My computer isn't strong enough to do a mod manager install so I have to do a manual install and I have one problem. All of the fallout 3 files that were generated by the installer have a large number sequenced DIFF extension after their usual ESM/BSA file extension, so they arent read by any mod managers. I have all of the required game content and I ran the installer as administrator and let it run its full course, so I don't think I did anything wrong on that end. If someone has any idea on how to solve this it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, the paths for both of the games in the installer were correct.

Those are the files used by the installer to create the TTW files. You should definitely go back and read everything on the FAQ under 'manual install'.

I have read the manual install guide multiple times to try to figure this out and it does not detail what to do in the event that the fallout 3 ESMs aren't found under the Main Files subdirectory.

Upload a screenshot of where you got those files from before you moved them into that directory. It's not that I don't believe you, but if what you're saying is true this would be the first time this has happened in 10s of thousands of installs.

I know this probably isn't where I was supposed to get them, but this is the only place I could find fallout 3 master files.

The files will be in the folder you installed TTW to. If all else fails use 7zip to extract the right files out of the fomod.

You need to build TTW before you can do a manual install. So start with the installation instructions and at one point it will tell you to follow manual install from there. Basically, run the TTW installer, follow onscreen instructions and when it asks if you want it to build FOMODs, say no and do a manual install.
