One or more of your Fallout 3 BSA files ...

Post by worldbro » Sat Dec 21, 2013 9:12 pm

has failed to extract properly. If this problem persists, please report it.

My new vegas and fallout 3 directories are under steam apps. I chose the new vegas directory as the ttw install location.

And I get this error during install of ttw. so what's up with that?

--- Merged - TJ---

Got past this error by removing the BSAopt x64.exe and renaming the BSAopt x32.exe to BSAopt x64.exe.

Now I get an error 'Main.bsa failed to patch properly. Please report this error.'

YOU SHOULD DISABLE YOUR DOWNLOAD UNTIL YOU HAVE RESOLVED THESE PROBLEMS!

It appears you are closing threads relating to these issues and marking them fixed and obviously it isn't fixed.

From what I'm reading I have to make the directory structure shallower to get your mod to install?

Try making a fallout 3 and a fallout nv folder on your desktop and install TTW from those desktop folders into a TTW Install folder also on your desktop. If your games are not in english then it will not work either.

Also you don't provide much info with your problem, please read this and please include the info asked:

http://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/read-asking-help

And I am not the best to help with installer problems so I am sorry if I can't help. The people who are the best to help with the installer are at the moment very busy working like crazy (really I can't even keep up with all the work they keep adding and making at the moment) trying to make the next version of TTW ready for release so they might not have time to read the forum much sad.

I tried the method of creating fnv and f3 and ttv directories right off root c.

Now sounds.bsa failed to update properly is the message.

So I get a little further each time.

I have windows 7 64 bit. new vegas  is on steam. I've been playing it awhile and it has mods. fallout 3 I just installed on steam, no mods.

There really is nothing about my box that should prevent a clean install.

I recommend that those who are working so hard on the next version focus some of that energy on the installer. Cause this is a no go. Unfortunate cause I only loaded fallout 3 in order to carry a character from one game to the other.

---Merged- TJ---

I've renamed the 64 bit into the 32 bit.

I've created new directories that aren't as deep.

My load order should not be relevant if this mod doesn't even install. right now my fomm only lets me select one game or the other.

I have plenty of ram.

Then the sounds.bsa error. The ttv directory has a main.bsa, and a data directory with a bunch of sound files. no sounds.bsa.

Is this the data that should be copied into fnv or was that error a showstopper?

some rather silly questions here. how much room do you have on your hard drive? could you post the install log (how to do that is within the link risewild provided)? do you have all the basic programs .net and such. i've seen it recommended that install ALL versions of those programs upto the version required by TTW, but dont quote me

try to be patient this is much more than a simple mod and it's still in alpha phase

i had to force feed TTW a few time before it was up and running

install log is empty, and exists in the directory I installed from, not installed to. but it's empty. I have plenty of hard drive space. I program in c# so yes I have all .net stuff.

what is the installer doing when it's 'checking for patches'?

why do empty dos boxes periodically pop up?

---Merged -TJ---

Trying to install again now, and an empty dos box (command prompt) comes up and has been there for 15 minutes. installer is getting cpu. Can I close that empty dos box?

You know what? STOP WORKING ON THE MOD UNTIL YOU GET THE INSTALLER WORKING OR WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT?

It should work with default steam locations, no renaming files, etc..

Or, you know, we could ban you for being an entitled asshole. That would work too.

See you are in the minority of people who have these issues installing.

I was wondering, how much did you pay for this mod? Because I haven't seen a penny, you have this I'm the customer I shouldn't have to do anything mentality, but you misunderstand how this all works. We made TTW because we wanted to, we released it to the public because there is no reason everyone couldn't benefit from our hard work, I made the installer because I wanted to make it easier for the less technically inclined to install. You are having problems? Ask politely.

Yes, let's cut off EVERYBODY from the mod because a few people can't install, and in most of those cases the problem lies between chair and keyboard.

Yes, because not only is it usually the user's problem, we have also taken massive steps toward making the installer even MORE idiot proof, but that build is still in private testing. Speaking of which, did you see that "Alpha" word mentioned all over the place? You are a programmer, what do you THINK alpha means?

I could probably help you, I've chosen not to and would urge others to do the same.

Thousands of people installed it without a problem, a few more installed with some problems and just a hand full of people didn't managed to install TTW and are waiting for the next version to see if it works for them.

If you are such an expert in programming in c# then make your own installer.

Maybe your TTW installer is not working because you are on Santa's naughty list? Sheesh!

I'm thankful I wasn't around to see this when it happened, I wouldn't have been so nice.
