[Solved] Can't Start A New Game

Post by travis99 » Sun Jul 27, 2014 2:32 am

I get the regular New Vegas Menu and when I choose start a new game it goes through the new vegas intro and then the Fallout 3 intro and then I start in Doc Mitchells house just like I was starting a normal new vegas game. There were no errors during the installs and I am using the newest version of TTW with clean installs of everything. Any help would be great.

Im using the newest NMM

Load order is the same as the sugested load order

both games are from steam fall out 3 GOTY and new vegas ultimate edition

windows 7 ultimate 64

I7 4770

16 gigs of kingston ram

I tried changing the names of the files in the TTW main files folder that started w/ fallout 3 - to A Tale of Two Wastelands - as suggested in one thread but did not help, other than reinstalling everything which I have done a few times I'm not sure what else to do

Thanks

I was able to fix it by doing

I was able to fix it by doing this, I had to do it 4 or 5 times and change both the files but it seems to be working

C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Fallout_default.ini

You need to make an edit to your .INI file so that you start the game properly.  This is normally done by the .fomod when it is installed.

  • The file you're looking for is C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini

  • You may also want to make the changes in FalloutDefault.ini in the game folder as well, if you use the normal game launcher for some reason.  Using that launcher overwrites Fallout.ini with the values in FalloutDefault.ini every time it's run.

  • Make these changes:

    • SCharGenQuest = 001FFFF8

    • sIntroMovie = (yes this one is blank on purpose, it needs to be blank)

    • bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles = 1

I just updated the FAQ to also include the ini changes instructions, since they were only available in the Alpha Download page.

Now it will be (hopefully) easier for people to find those instructions.
