Not sure where to go from here...

Post by Aristrofl » Tue Aug 20, 2013 7:47 am

Greetings TTW staff and forumites!

Tonight I end my 5th day of attempting to get TTW installed. I have read most of the tech support forums and and watched any youtube spots I could find.

I have tried fresh installs of both games. I verified my games after every try. I moved the games to the root of my drive in an attempt to lessen the path length. I run as an admin each time I try to install. I even highjacked my girlfriends computer and attempted a run or 4 there. Each time I have recieved the error Main.bsa failed to patch properly. Please report this bug" and each time the Install_Log.txt file is completely empty. I checked my setting on FIPS, and it is disabled and the registry key is set to "1". I also cannot view the "options" entries when I click the options button, they are hidden past the fixed size window.

System info:

  • 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise SP1

  • .Net Framework 4.0

  • C++ 2012 SP1

  • New Legit steam copy of FO3 GOTY patched to newest version

  • Old Legit steam copy of NV with all dlc purchased seperately patched to newest version (Fresh install)

Any suggestions on where to go from here? I would post logs/screenshots, but they are blank and unhelpful.

5 days. Wow, I admire your perseverance. This is a long shot, but you could try and set exclusions for your anti-virus. I had an issue with either Requiem or the beta version of TTW. The installer wouldn't finish and I had left over directories that I couldn't delete. I think it was from a silent Avast update or just Windows trying to save me from myself.

I bet it has something to do with the steam versions. Steam isn't running while your trying to install is it? Also go through the New Vegas directories and uncheck the "read only" attributes. I don't know if it works, the check box is always re-checked., but every version of Windows thinks we're just a little bit dumber.

Which version of the C++ redist do you have? x64 or x86?

Either way, make sure you have both.

Sadly, and with some notable exceptions, that's because with each release of windows the populace of the world IS just a little bit dumber.

I just double checked, Looks like I have both x64 and x86 installed. I repaired them, "just in case"

Have you got: You need .NET Framework 4.5 for w7.

Are both FO3 and FNV fully patched? (FO3 to 1.4; FNV to 1.7).

Btw the only difference from you that I have is FO3 - GotY Edition and FNV Ultimate Edition; and I only have C++ Redistributed 2012 (x64 bit only) v11.0.51106.1

Can you successfully run a FO3 game? Can you successfully run a FNV game? If you cant run one of those, its maybe why TTW doesnt work properly maybe...

Come to think of it, its probably that you need .NET Framework 4.5 for w7 install (.NET 4.0 for XP users) since you mentioned you had Framework 4.0

Im also w7x64 Enterprise SP1 as well with .NET 4.5

I just tried installing 4.5. I already have it. I think I am just going to have to wait for the next version.
