Can everyone who is having

Post by thermador » Mon Dec 30, 2013 2:18 am

Can everyone who is having the "no menu" problem please let us know what version of Fallout 3 you are using - Steam, original discs, game of the year disc, etc. ?  Thanks!

(For me, I found out that using the disc version of the point lookout / broken steel expansions for my Fallout 3 installation caused the no menu issue.  I was able to narrow it down by unchecking each file in my load order (from the bottom up) until I got menus again.  It was the point lookout .esm file.

So I rebuilt TTW using a Steam installation of Fallout 3 instead of the disc installation of Fallout 3 as my Fallout 3 source, and it worked fine and I had menus.

Interestingly, the Point Lookout - Main.bsa was a totally different size.

Other people have fixed the "no menu" problem just by re-running the TTW installer several times, either with the same directory (re-checking the installation that you already built) or in a new folder and starting from scratch, then copying the more recent installation files into the FNV folder and overwriting the old ones. )

I don't know if I can help right this moment, but many people are having this problem and we are looking for a solution. At this point, information is what we need. Post your install logs if you haven't already and post exactly which versions of FO3 and FNV you used.

In the mean time, make a pure, complete install of both FO3 and FNV, including your My Games/FalloutNV folder, run the installer again and see if it changes anything.

If you did a clean install

If you did a clean install but your MyGames/FalloutNV folder has an old ini file that tries to load Darn fonts or xml files that are from mods, you will CTD on startup.

Also, I would refrain from cleaning the DLC's with FNVEdit after the conversion. Not sure how many people do it for Fallout, but it really hasn't been tested enough even for non-TTW installs.

I use my GOTY DVD. This time I have errors for the voice file conversion part. For 2.3 I did not have the errors. I didn't really look at the log file close till today. So I will give it another try. But the game starts with no problems and I ran it up to the birthday party.

The voice errors are an installer problem and should be considered "normal" it is trying to delete files that aren't in the BSA and shouldn't be.

Ladies and mentlegen, I had this menu problem and managed to fix it on my end. I'll help however I can with my limited knowledge, just tell me how much RAM you got, what game versions you have (steam/disc, standard/goty), and what you used after the installer finished (manual, NMM, FOMM, LAA FOMM). I'll at least be able to figure what you did differently that might have messed it up.

If you are having this problem, I would: 1) run the installer again; 2) install/reinstall FOMM, making sure the install directories are not the same as NMM if you have it; 3) replace the FOMM exe with the one from the Alpha Download page here, or find another program online to make FOMM Large Address Aware; 4) copy the brand new TTW fomods to FOMM's mods directory; 5) run FOMM as an admin and install the fomods, main first. This should work. Double check that the load order is correct and launch the game.

If it still gets stuck at the main menu, manually make the changes to fallout_default.ini and fallout.ini that are shown on the Alpha Download page, double checking for spelling errors and making sure the ini files are not set as read only.

Your best bet for making this work is to USE FOMM. Manual might not work, and NMM probably will fail. DON'T TOUCH NEXUS MOD MANAGER WITH A TEN FOOT POLE and you should be fine.

I went back, deleted the Brokensteel bsas and the esm.  then reran the installer and reinstalled it.  it says it sucessfully created the files, and made the FOMOD.  yet it still gives me a blank menu.    so I went to my FO3 install, deleted the DLC and let steam reinstall it.  Then recreated the files and fomod.  Still a blank menu.

I'm not sure what else to try.    I'm hitting that..  definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result  kinda feeling.

What did you use to install the fomod?

In your fallout.ini and fallout_default.ini, what are the values for SCharGenQuest= ; sIntroMovie= ; bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles= ?

What is your load order?

How long did you wait at the main menu?

all 3 ini were adjusted by the fomod, and manually rechecked

LO is in my prev. post, and matches the install page.

wait time- varied but never less than 5 minutes, usually 15+

Hello, so I download Tales of Two Wastelands, and everything went sucessful, but whenever I try to launch the game everything loads of fine, but the main menu is completely blank. It doesn't crash or anything but all the options are completely gone. Is there anything I could do to fix this? Any help would be great, thanks
