NMM patched with 4GB: no change, times out before end of install.

FOMM (after like a kajillion reinstalls [ikr?])patched with 4GB: doesn't crash on start up , but when trying to add the fomod,

... standard crash. Trying again, manually placing the fomod into FOMM's "mods" folder, yields the following upon opening the package manager:

which when translated to English means "I can't let you do that, StarFox." Doing anything else then crashes it. Stupid toaster. I wish I was back at the Sink so Toaster could have a filed day with this mah.

EDIT: and as always, a manual install causes a menu freeze (no text, just music and Ranger image).

Try loading the game using only New Vegas + DLC's and only the fallout 3 esm. Does that work with the manual install?

morlund69 please post your full load order with the manual install where you are getting no menus.

if you are having no menus on start up, it's caused by one of two things: a bad load order, or a mod that is activated that has errors in it.

the normal procedure for solving the "no menu" problem is to deactivate your mods about five at a time, run FNV and see if you get menus again.  then narrow it down to which exact mod was causing the problem with no menus.

@deathclaw love the FO3 and FO3 DLCs having NV masters thing has been the case since TTW2.0 so that's not really all that helpful.

@Morlund69: Making NMM LAA won't help, it's problem is in the way it's made (If I remember right it's LAA to begin with anyway) and if your FOMM uses the same Mods and Install folders as your NMM that's why it's crashing.

If doing a manual install is causing the game to freeze at the main menu (and you have no other mods installed) something is preventing the files from patching properly. We would need more information (ie did you stop and restart the installer, did it stop and you restarted it, were you using your poor little toaster to do other things) to have a better idea of why the files weren't patched properly. That said, no amount of trying to get the FOMODs to install will help, as the result will be the same.

It's worth noting that we tested the shit out of this installer before we even started working on 2.4, including on some lower end systems (and virtual machines!) My advice would be to disable all non essential programs, even your web browser, run the installer again, and don't use the computer until it's done. Make explicit note of anything it happens and when it finishes, pass or fail, please post your TTW install log.

Yeah I fixed this issue on my end by just using a different computer. Also, yeah I totally didn't notice the DLC masters before lol. Sorry for the misguidedness everyone!

Thanks for all the advice

Thanks for all the advice guys. My load order contains no mods, it is just the NV, FO3, and TTW .esms. Like Deathclawlove said, if I disable the FO3 .esms and TTW.esm, the game does load (ie vanilla).

I noticed something I thought was weird in the installer's log while it was running. Point Lookout - Sounds.bsa and Zeta - Sounds.bsa behaved differently; where every other .bsa would extract, delete unnecessary files, then compress, those two just extracted and compressed right away. I don't know if that is a problem or just how it was supposed to be. Also, my little baby toaster laptop was on youtube while the installer was going. I didn't think it would cause problems but maybe it did.

Anyway, I'll shut everything down, run the installer over again, and be back with a progress report when I have one.

morlund69 can you post your install log?  TTW Install Log (My Documents\my games\TaleOfTwoWastelands\Install Log.txt)

It may be the same problem that is described here: http://taleoftwowastelands.com/comment/16355#comment-16355 where the installer fails to build some  sound files...

"[in southern robot voice] Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" Ok, so... for all the stuff I was trying before, problems with NMM, FOMM, etc., something must have gone wrong with the installer the first time round. Took three hours to finish the installer process, but then the fomod installed without issue. *mind blows*

Well, the fomod came up with an error editing the .ini but only because it was trying to make changes I had previously done manually. Blah, blah, my game loads now and I feel like an idiot. Will start playtesting in a bit.

Here's the install log for what its worth. I can't make heads or tails of it, but I think it worked.

morlund69 what version of fallout 3 were you using?  separate discs, one disc game of the year edition, or steam?

we think we isolated the cause of the "no menus" issue to the PointLookout - Main.bsa but only when it's built from the DVD version of Point Lookout.

I have steam versions of both Fallout 3 goty and New Vegas Ultimate Ed.

EDIT: and on another note, I have discovered something. After the installer finished, I moved the fomods to FOMM's mods folder and installed it as a test. Success. Since I prefer NMM, I then deactivated them in FOMM, moved them to NMM's mods folder and attempted to install it with that. It failed. Deciding that NMM wasn't going to work, I moved them back to FOMM's folder to begrudgingly reinstall them with that. It crashed............... So if NMM fails to install the fomod, it will be come corrupt. So I get to do the installer a third time.

DOUBLE EDIT: doing a double take, the first time around I tried putting the fomods into NMM right away, it failed, and then FOMM crashed when using that. So the installer probably worked the first time over and it is just NMM that keeps stepping on my d***. I should probably just use FOMM exclusively.
