How to start the train?

I went to the union station, start the generators, get into the train, loots the train and have a beer in the dining car, but.....just wonder, HOW TO START THE TRAIN?

you have to buy a ticket form the terminal it has a green light in front of it.

tbh TTW works 99% of the time straight out of the box. The things that don't work are usually not the game crashing variety.


I don't know for certain why you're having issues, but I use a very extensively modded setup and I get through the game just fine, even the normally problematic bits like the vault 101 intro.


Exactly which mods did you install prior to deactivating them?

If I start the train, I watch the intro and then a total white background, time still passes and my companions still idle chat......



I tried coc to Doc Mitchell house, and the doc tried to "wake me up" and then the game still runing but my player got frozen.....><


This is my load order before, one the other hand, I did overwrite my fallout.ini with my old one by mistake, and always start at new Vegas even following the manual installation, and have to walk-around the problem by the that "choosing to start in FNV or FO3" mod. Just see if anyone can send me his/she TTW fallout.ini and I can have a try....

Well first of all, thats a shitload of mods to be using and an even more outrageous shitload to have without a merged patch of some kind.


Second "I did overwrite my fallout.ini with my old one by mistake, and always start at new Vegas even following the manual installation" I'd bet money that's your problem right there. If you actually did a manual install properly, you wouldn't start in NV.


Thirdly, be careful with CAGE. I have been very interested in it for quite a long time now, but expecting an issue free After-Dam game is still not quite within reach. It's not related to your current issue (Or shouldn't be, anyway) just something to keep in mind.


Lastly, git moar followers, coz yer don' hav neely enuf.

I am testing mods compatibility at the moment (and, too bored to repeat the same game so many times). I am still learning how to merge mods, and it cause more crashes then I expected, even if I am just merging some very simple outfit modcrying



I did such (as described in the manual instullation) and the issue is still there, The other "potential" reason may be the New Vegas Uncut, which I have uninstall it by removing the esm/esp files already

  • sIntroMovie = (yes this one is blank on purpose, it needs to be blank)

I am not familliar with manual install procedure (why are you using that btw?) but the bullet point directly above the one you copied suggests adding those lines to fallout_default on top of adding them to fallout.ini in the my games subfolder; did you do this? If you really did, there is no reason (as far as I can see) that you should start anywhere except in DC.


I'm pretty sure that bad things happen when you dont start in vault 101 properly. My money is still on that as the source of your issue.


Immediate Edit: Load up your whole load order in FNVEdit and check if anything is overriding changes to the chargen quest.

I have checked both the fallout.ini and fallout_default.ini, those line has been changed as required. So the mods must be the issue......



After more testing, the "stuck at white background" is from the "TTW_startupMenu" mod, if I close that mod, I will start the intro, wake up at Doc house (no matter it is a new game or I load a save) and then get stuck in that house as the SPECIAL machine is not responding..........crying

When you say not responding, what do you mean? The vigor tester is not supposed to let you change your stats.


Is the startup menu mod the one that you said you need to use to start in NV?


If you have the right value in the ini files then something is very bad in one of the plugins you are using. I dont use most of them and am not interested in getting them all to find out the culprit, but you should use FNVEdit to find out which one is messing with settings set by TTW.
