Crashing in 101, possible idea

Post by Falconhoof » Wed Aug 14, 2013 10:51 pm

Hi folks, I posted in another thread that I was getting crashes in Vault 101, specifically the tutorial. The post I made can be seen here:

http://www.taleoftwowastelands.com/content/crashing-vault-101

I'm been trying to figure out what is causing the crashing at the point I mention in the other thread.  After a clean install I'm 99% sure it is to do with the completion of a quest as you're sitting on that table in front of "dad".

I tried disabling quest popups with a mod but it's done nothing so far.

I guess this post is to report that this might be a specific issue, I hope it helps in finding this bug.

As posted in the other thread, I have a game in the Mojave that works perfectly, and I can get back to the Capital Wasteland, but is there a way I can force start the quest "Following in His Footsteps"? To make it as if I've gone through the vault Tutorial?

Thanks again for the great mod.

Maybe you should start a new game if you're using TTW for the first time.

He did. What he is saying is that a new game with no mods crashes when dad is giving you an exam before the GOAT. His other save, an old NV save, suffers from being unable to kickstart the FO3 mainquest.

If your TTW is crashing in chargen without any mods loaded. You may have load order problems. You may have inactive mods that are somehow still causing issues (don't ask how that works, I've just gotten reports to that extent). Other than that I am plum out of ideas.

You could try hacking the terminal in Moriarty's Saloon and see if that will make the quest appear. You could also try using a save game from right before you get into the wasteland for the first time (right after vault 101 is completed), there are some of those around in this forum somewhere.
