Installation: cmd prompt not opening

Post by AugustNights » Wed Jul 24, 2013 7:19 pm

Attempting to install TTW for the first time, but I'm struggling with it a bit. Basically, when I try to install the mod, the black cmd prompts box doesn't open, and the text in the installation box, below the "Options" button reads as such:

[collapsed title=Text] Installing Tale of Two Wastelands...

TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa needs to be built...

Extracting Fallout - Misc.bsa...

Extracting Fallout - Meshes.bsa...

Extracting Fallout - Textures.bsa...

Cleaning up duplicate resources...

[/collapsed]

I've left the installer on for 8 hours or so, but it didn't seem to add any files into the directory that I am aware of.

I've got  both Fall Out New Vegas Ultimate and Fall Out 3 GOTY, downloaded from steam, and have followed the installation guide, I'm running a Windows XP and have downloaded (I'm pretty sure) all the files needed to run TTW as recommended on the download page.

Your help is appreciated.

Did you get any errors at all

Did you get any errors at all? Even the worst systems should be able to install TTW in less than 8 hours.

Probably an issue with BSAOpt

Probably an issue with BSAOpt and XP. Did it throw up any errors at all?

I mostly get either an error regarding BSA files or this:

A previous user suffered from this particular error and it was suggested they re-download the installer and extract it properly, I have tried this a few times.

Alternatively I get the following error:

[collapsed title=Alternate Error] One or more of your Fallout 3 BSA files failed to extract properly. if this problem please report it.[/collapsed]

Which I have read in other threads is normalish, and some of the BSA files commonly won't extract properly for some users but the TTW installs fine anyhow.

EDIT

Attempted to verify games, and still no luck.

After attempting to install and skip the BSA files, the cmd prompt did appear, and the rest of the instilation process went well. The mod was successfully installed, but without the textures and objects (as would be expected, I imagine).

Attempting to delete and reinstall Fallout 3, New Vegas, and TTW installer to see if a cleaner start does not help.
