Hello Everyone,


Today I've discovered the Waste disposal for the first time.......... i know i know, how can one miss this in the current age of the internet.... well i just did. So after installing ttw i started rediscovering fallout 3. Got zeta finally to work (damned grenades).And was merrily killing aliens again. Then i discovered the waste disposal facility. (was looking for the katana) With its crushers. and i discovered another thing with the crushers. (one of the aliens walked accidentaly  into a crusher) They give you massive XP. If a alien gets crushed in them you get bout 480 xp (even with reduction esp on) But theres a way to get even more xp. Kill the aliens yourself. And then crush their bodies. instant 200+ xp And then afterwards like 1900+ xp...... Jumped 3 levels just by discovering this bug/feature. (from 26 to 29)


Please confirm....


And have fun getting massive amounts of XP by just disposing of the bodies. If the crusher leaves gibbs, they can be re crushed too. For more XP

Looking at the script, I can sort of confirm this. It does not do a GetDead check before doing a KillActor call, which will reward XP if it does damage to something, which it can.

Did the KillActor function change from FO3 to FNV or something? I can find no mention of this bug in vanilla and TTW hasn't touched that script. Making a bug report for this now.

Here i still own the GOTY Strategy guide by Prima let me look into this, see if it mentions getting XP for dead body disposal...    


EDIT: Here is a quote from that book on the area...


"Enter the trash compactor chamber. It becomes immediately obvious that this is a dangerous location, as the compactor cylinders crush any items upon impact, and a cluster is working to the southeast. There’s a switch to turn off and on a single compactor, after which you can place anyitem you like and flick the switch again to crush it. You can run through the cluster of compactors, sprint eastward as soon as the nearest compactor ascends and keep moving so you’re only glanced by other compactor cylinders. The prize are two safes and a First Aid Box. Carefully dash back before exiting via the door in the southwest corner."


I believe that is the area that memph is referencing. It's weird the guide encourages you to crush things, but it never mentions an XP award.


EDIT again: I know about the bug report, i thought i would look into it to see if it was a problem with the vanilla Fallout 3 game.

I can confirm that it will just by looking at the script. I've posted a fixed script to the trouble issue that Jax started.


Incidentally, the way the script it set up, and the reason the reward is so big, is that it will reward XP for every object that gets "crushed" that takes damage to any limb. Since I believe limb parts still return their damage, obviously it will count them as killed again, but they count as an individual actor each time! Fun stuff!

Just started a fresh game and i ran straight to zeta and to the trash disposal facility. Havent counted all the aliens there, But i went in level 5. Came out level 20. this is fun stuff. Speeds de game right up.
