Extracting Fallout - Misc.bsa

Post by Partyprime » Sun Jan 19, 2014 1:45 am

Hi, trying to install 2.4 here since some mods require it (wanting to try the "choose start zone" mod.

Basically it never stops either "Extracting Fallout - Misc.bsa" or "Compressing Fallout - Misc.bsa"

I'm running TTW installer as Admin and before I got an error about x64 version of BSAopt but it hasn't seemed to pop up again.

This was the BSAopt error (I tried different versions, only the x32 ones work, but TTW installer only tries to use 64 bit ones it seems. )

"BSAopt x64.exe - Application Error. The application was unable to start correctly. (0x000007b). Click OK to close the application."

My specs are:

Intel core i5 2500k

16gb 1600MHz RAM

2x GTX 670 in SLI mode.

Corsair 850w PSU

ASUS P8Z68-V Pro

Windows 8 Pro x64 bit.

This is my Install log

Now it's only been 20 minutes since I restarted the installer after some troubleshooting but before it sat on compressing or extracting for hours.

I have Fallout New Vegas on Steam with all DLCs bought (not ultimate edition) and Fallout 3 GOTY edition on Steam. Both are installed on my E: drive, I ran Fallout 3 once to make sure it created ini files if necessary.

Probably user access control

Post by thermador » Mon Jan 20, 2014 4:35 pm

Probably user access control (UAC) since it's installed in e:\program files.

If running as an admin didn't do it, you will need to google search for "how to disable UAC in windows 8"

You may even need to reinstall the games to folders that aren't controlled/monitored by Windows UAC.

I don't have UAC enabled

Post by Partyprime » Mon Jan 20, 2014 7:28 pm

I don't have UAC enabled (Well, it's set to never notify which it was also at in windows 7 with no issues).

I did however fix my problem (I think) by copying the 32 bit version of BSAopt and rename it to 64bit. However this caused the CMD popups for installing to be forced into "press any key to continue" when done. (Unless thats normal) which caused me to sit pressing enter every 5 minutes for 50 minutes lol.

Now my issue after installing it and turning it to a FOMOD is getting it installed in Nexus mod manager (I apologise if this isnt a problem with the FOMOD but with Nexus mod manager)

After installing mod it pops up

"A problem occured during install: Object '/08ad28b1_df1c_4194_b819_58f371001688/ypb_kzaxvnzhpyqructraha_6.rem' has been disconnected or does not exist at the server. The mod was not installed."

What could cause this? "has been disconnected" made me think that my HDD could be going into some sort of power saving mode but all that stuff is disabled in performance options on Windows and I have other stuff running on the HDD.

Thanks in advance. I could always do manual install but I heard this is recommended.

IIRC that error is NMM

Post by Risewild » Tue Jan 21, 2014 12:49 am

IIRC that error is NMM needing more memory (it happened to me too, I only have 4GB Ram). I managed to install the fomod using LAA FOMM, so that would be my suggestion.

Yes, that is an NMM error

Post by thermador » Tue Jan 21, 2014 4:07 am

Yes, that is an NMM error when it takes too long to install a mod.  Basically it's like a "timeout" error when installing large mods.

Go for a manual install.

And sadly, yes, having to press the key every time on the black boxes during install is a Windows 8 thing.  No idea why.

I tried using a LAA program

Post by Partyprime » Tue Jan 21, 2014 5:13 pm

I tried using a LAA program on Nexus mod manager but it didn't work so i'll try the FOMM version.

Thanks mate!

I'm using the new 2.4a Installer and had the same issue.  Renaming my BSAopt32 to 64 worked like a charm.

Just posting this here because this type of problem exists (for me) on the newest version of the installer.

*Cheers*
