BSA files failed to extract during install

Post by Peter » Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:03 pm

Hello, I'm encountering an annoying problem when trying to install TTW. Basically, when I start to install, a short while after a message comes up stating: "One or more of your Fallout 3 BSA files has failed to extract properly. If this problem persists, please report it.

I have no idea what could be the problem, any assistance would be appreciated. I bought both the New Vegas ultimate edition, and the Fallout 3 game of the year edition from steam. This is being done with a non-"fresh" version of New Vegas, and a newly installed version of Fallout 3. The directories chosen during installation are absolutely correct.

My install log reads...

Has this happened just once,

Has this happened just once, or multiple times?

It could be a matter of file path length. If you have only tried it once, try again, if it keeps happening, move the install to C:\TTW to reduce the length of the file path. If neither of those work, come back and let us know.

It's happened everytime I've tried, and I've tried reducing the legnth of the file path before already, to C:\TTW in fact, and it didn't help.

Use a BSA program to open

Use a BSA program to open Fallout - Meshes from your Fallout3 folder and check to see if it has "meshes\architecture\paradisefalls\buildings\paradisefallsbuilding01.nif" inside of it.

I should've thought of that

I should've thought of that in the first place, at the very least I should've verified the integrity of my steam cache. Thanks, once I get home and try it out, I'll let you know.

Alrighty, so after finding the problem and verifying my steam cache, the install worked perfectly. Thanks for the help, such a silly oversight on my part.
