Installation Unhandled Exception Problem

Post by lordbok » Sat May 04, 2013 8:32 am

I am getting an Unhandled Exception like many other users, I have tried many things that were suggested in the Help form on the Alpha Download Page but the one with changing the FOIP settings does not work due to my version of Windows 7 Home Premium, It said online that Home Premium does not have the "Local Security Policy"

so that fix does not work for me. in this topic; http://www.taleoftwowastelands.com/content/bad-problems-upon-installation-cannot-install#comment-form

I have also reinstalled >NET 4 and .NET 4.5 for my 64bit as well as the suggested C++

I will attach my DxDiag, also maybe it would be nice if there was a manual way to do this like with "a Requiem for the Capital Wasteland" as I had that working very good when it was around.

I have both versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas GOTY editions fully patched and all but as soon as I hit the Install option with the installer it gives me this;

It can't find the BSAOpt that shipped with the installer. Did you extract the entire installer to its own folder? Or are you trying to run it from the zip file?

Also, I see you posted, here and in another thread, the same thing. Don't do that, it's rude. Deleted your other post.

Well, After redownloading it and re-extracting it It got much further, the cmd window and everything came up and it took like 20+ minutes of extracting till it came up with a new error, but it got upto; "Building Complete, Checking for patches..." then it had an Unhandled Exception;

I might be saying something

Post by Risewild » Sun May 05, 2013 4:14 am

I might be saying something really stupid since I don't know much about this stuff, but it seems like (to me) it is using .NET 4.0 (again I really don't know much about this stuff cheeky ). So if I was you I would uninstall both .NetFramework, do a system restart, install .NetFramework 4.5 do another system restart and then try again, lots of boring work I know sad.

Yea I already have .NET 4.5

Post by lordbok » Sun May 05, 2013 5:40 am

Yea I already have .NET 4.5 installed but It keeps choosing to use 4.0 I have no Idea why, I will try to uninstall 4.0 then reinstall 4.5 its just I assumed you needed 4.0 to be installed to install 4.5 as it says on the Microsoft website that it was a 4.0 update. The weird thing is that it gets all the way to the end of the operation before it comes up with the error I assumed if it was a .NET error it would of told me at the start.

JaxFirehart if you read my first paragraph I stated that I cannot change my group policy due to me having Windows 7 Home Premium and I also stated I already went through that topic looking for answers.
