Install problem - Point Lookout and Zeta DLCs not supported?

Post by Banjo » Fri Apr 19, 2013 7:40 am

Hi! I just discovered this project and it's made me want to play (and mod!) F3 and FNV all over again, after a long time away. So, I've done fresh installs of both games and all DLC and run the installer... only to be greeted by "version not supported" messages for "PointLookout - Main.bsa", "PointLookout - Sounds.bsa", "Zeta - Main.bsa" and "Zeta - Sounds.bsa". These were the old GFWL download versions (but then, all my DLC was, so not sure why it worked with some and not others), being used with a retail DVD of F3.

The DLC worked okay with the game, though it's been a while since I've played and haven't tested those areas with this install, admittedly.

I've actually ordered the GOTY "complete" PC release of F3 today, as I'd planned to ages ago (silly, maybe, but I like to have all Bethesda game DLC on one official disk for safekeeping, even if I've bought DLC downloads on release), so I can try with that version when it arrives next week (my third purchase of this game now! :) ).

As long as that version works, having my old DLC copies not install with TTW isn't the end of the world, except for the frustrating wait... but it seemed an odd bug given the other DLCs worked, and the installer asked me to report it.

Regardless, I'll report how I go when my GOTY copy (UK release, since the Aussie version proved impossible to find!) arrives.

I'm really looking forward to playing this, though, so any help would be appreciated. :)

Welcome to TTW. I may not be able to help you out here, but the creators of TTW are almost always around to offer support. Other people here can be just as helpful. Hopefully we can get you playing soon.

I've found that once you use TTW, you just can't go back to regular FO3 or FNV. Anyway, check out the forums while you wait, poke into the chat room, read the requirements for TTW and get prepared. It'll help move the process along. Also, if you plan on using any mods, go ahead and download, do NOT install them yet. Wait until you get TTW running.

I just have to ask this though, where's your name from?

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

Well the unsupported PL and MZ is an issue that is being worked and a fix might be available in the next update.

Thanks for the friendly welcome!

I remember seeing RFCW on the Nexus and wanting to try it, but it was around when I was playing less and I never got around to it. TTW sounds amazing and I'm really looking forward to it, and I do get the feeling I won't want to go back to "normal" versions too (I already found I couldn't play F3 after FNV came out, because of the added Hardcore thirst/hunger/crafting elements I always wanted being added).

I've already been reading the mod section and actually planning some mods of my own (I used to mod quite a lot for F3/FNV but usually only for private use... interestingly, a lot of my personal mods were to bring F1/F2/F3 stuff into NV!). One project I'd love to work on is bringing more NV foodstuffs/flora to F3's DC wasteland as a mod. Not sure if anyone else is trying this, though!

As for my screen name... it's a nickname (based on "Banjo Paterson") I was given long ago, that stuck. Why do ya ask? :)

Good to hear! it'd be awesome to get playing sooner rather than later. In a way, I'm glad TTW finally made me rebuy the games as "collection" versions (something I'd always planned to do when I saw them cheap at retail) but waiting for the parcel to arrive from the UK will be a pain.

Still, at least that version should be assured to work, right? I'm assuming most TTW players have either the GOTY/Ultimate or Steam (ugh!) versions of the game(s)?

How often is TTW updated? I only just discovered it, so not sure if it's being rapidly "snapshotted" or there's a longer delay between more polished updates.

Darn, after reading more here, now I'm REALLY wanting to play TTW! :)

TTW was updated weekly in the past, but it has been a while since the last update because TTW 2.0 got released and was totally remade for that version (which made a lot of new and old issues resurface, it got from version 2.0 to 2.2a in just two days, so you have an idea cheeky ), so it is taking a bit longer to update than usual.

I remember everyone that had a GFWL disk having problems with The Pitt RFCW.. Only vary briefly remember this once TTW hit though, either right after the DLC was added or Jax fixed it right before.. All the old glitches have been showing up on 2.0+

My project Dash is on Kickstarter!

Thanks for the info, and good to hear. I was just hoping it wasn't going to be a wait along the lines of (the awesome) Fallout 2 Restoration Project. ;)

I assumed it was the GFWL being the pain... now I think about it, isn't the GOTY version branded the same (pretty sure the box I ordered today had GFW on it, but might be different)? Were the old download releases different to the on-disc GOTY versions, maybe?

The installer worked fine for my other DLCs (the Pitt, etc.), interestingly; it was just Point Lookout and Zeta it didn't like.

I had the same problem; Jax is working on it, so it shouldn't be long before you (and I) get to playing TTW.

Woo hoo! :) Thanks for the info... was it the same DLCs for you, too?

Since I haven't played F3 or FNV in ages, I'm really looking forward to the chance to head back into the wastelands again. I still remember the day I first fired up my preordered CE of Fallout 3 on my Xbox 360, having been waiting since F2 for that moment... and the console (a year-old Elite) promptly red-ringed a day later!!! I went out and bought the PC version (full retail price) that afternoon.

So yeah, waiting a few days for TTW isn't that bad, by comparison. :)

Sorry to bump this, I just wanted to know if I should file this error as a "proper" bug report, or was starting this thread enough to get this looked into/fixed?
