Installer crashing

Post by 5t3v0 » Sun Apr 21, 2013 5:17 am

I can't seem to install 2.2 .

I manage to find both the Fallout 3 and New Vegas directories (and of course the install directory) but when I hit install it freezes, the cmd screen comes up and then it doesn't do anything at all. I've waited almost an entire hour and nothing, I've also tried re extracting the folders and even redownloading but it keeps crashing.

I managed to install 1.4 before so I feel like its someting so simple that I am missing it. But does anyone know whats up?

The installer is extracting a lot of data. Around 7gb. The installer will say Not Responding, but it IS working. For some people, it takes up to 2 hours. Command prompts will show up, but show nothing. With 2.0+, you no longer need to press enter. You can let the installer run and go to youtube or make dinner or whatever. It won't show you anything.

You basically have no way of knowing it's done until it finishes, and it WILL tell you when it's done. It will also create an install log and let you know if any problems occured.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

Oh... shit... *Headdesk* Now I thought it was so simple it was stupid. I read that part on the installation instructions but hadn't realised how severe it was. Things have changed since the last update... Now I wish I could just bury this post...

But thanks for clearing that up for me.

No worries, you're not the first and won't be the last. Helping is what we love to do. If you have any other questions/problems, post them here or pop into the Public Chatroom.

Best of luck!
