Game freeze on start up

Post by BelGarion » Mon Aug 26, 2013 1:53 am

Ok. So I delete the FO:NV folder, redownload FO:NV from Steam, ran it only once to configure it, run the patcher, copied the Data folder it created into the FO:NV data folder, load up NMM and change the load order to recommendation, ran it and nothing, the screen comes up as white before the Zenimax logo, I hear music that continues to play on but the screen remains white, no Zenimax logo, no menu, nothing. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

Load order is

FalloutNV.ESM

DeadMoney.ESM

HonestHearts.ESM

OldWorldBlues.ESM

LonesomeRoad.esm

GunRunnersArsenal.ESM

CaravanPack.ESM

ClassicPack.ESM

MercenaryPack.ESM

TribalPack.ESM

Fallout3.ESM

Anchorage.ESM

ThePitt.ESM

BrokenSteel.ESM

PointLookout.ESM

Zeta.ESM

TaleofTwoWastelands.ESM

TTW_MoreCookingItems.ESP

TTW_NoKarmaDCFollowers.ESP

TTW_SlashPackOptions.ESP

And that's it, no other mods are installed, and that's the order recommended. Aught to work and it isn't. :(

Update, this might help

Post by BelGarion » Mon Aug 26, 2013 5:52 am

Update, this might help someone figure out the problem, hopefully. I loaded it all up into FNVEdit and it crashed with

[01:50] Background Loader: [Anchorage.esm] Building reference info.

[01:54] Background Loader: Fatal: <EAssertionFailed: Assertion failure (P:\BethWorkbench\wbImplementation.pas, line 7342)>

[02:41] Background Loader: finished

Now, translated, what does it mean and how do I fix? Thanks!

Reinstall TTW.  Something is wrong with Anchorage. Make sure you have the latest FNVEdit and make it your go to tool for errors, not your four hours later tool.

English, everything is in English. As for reinstalling TTW, this is the second install of it, the first was doing the same thing so I reinstalled FO:NV and am running it with out mods at all.

Ouch. Well honestly the last

Ouch. Well honestly the last time someone posted anything with that error from FNVEdit it turned out he had a pirated version of one or both of the games, so I guess that's my next question.

Bought both off of Steam, FO

Post by BelGarion » Tue Aug 27, 2013 2:04 am

Bought both off of Steam, FO:3 GotY and FO:NV complete but not the Ultimate Edition (Bought everything separate as the end of the year sale, on Steam, before the Ultimate came out in Feb had the whole mess at 80% off so I just bought piece meal. ) . Let me see... After the last post I deleted Anchorage and related files out of the FO:3 Data directory and made Steam redownload just that, since that is where it crashed last, and while I was at work I had TTW recreate the files again, moved them over, run NMM to sort out the load order, then run FNVEdit and same error with Anchorage. *head desks* I am thinking I need to delete FO:3 and get Steam to nab that from ground zero and/or back up the My Game folders for FO:3 and FO:NV and empty those out, the latter will take less time. :( Unless someone has any other ideas?

Well, reinstalled FO:3, same

Well, reinstalled FO:3, same error message. Was going to post this into the Bug Tracker but I didn't see a Post button. >.< Anyone have any thing further to help me with on this? As at this point I am not going to be playing TTW at all, it refuses to load due to Anchorage throwing the 'Assertion failure' error on loading.

Ok, that is weird, updating

Post by BelGarion » Fri Aug 30, 2013 4:15 pm

Ok, that is weird, updating FNVEdit to .3 from .21 fixed the game. O.o ... *peers* And that answers that question, it starts you in FO:3, makes sense, FO:3 has the open ending unlike FO:NV, so you can play FO:3 100% and still be free to roam to FO:NV.
