That Start-up menu bug

Post by a.indigo.smith » Wed Feb 27, 2013 8:25 pm

I'm having that issue where, when I start the game it gets stuck on the ranger background picture and it's playing NV music no sign of TTW, a little while after it freezes it CTDs with the typical "FalloutNV has stopped working" massage. the install is clean, legal, and American English. disabling TTW makes it run fine. My load order is:

[collapsed title=Load Order]

FalloutNV.esm

Fallout3.esm

DeadMoney.esm

HonestHearts.esm

OldWorldBlues.esm

and the installer output when I rerun it is:

Mmm I am not the most

Mmm I am not the most knowledgeable in installer issues but, have you tried install TTW in a new folder on your desktop and then manually pass the files into your NV install folder?

If you don't know how to do it or need some more help with that you can check the excellent installation guide made by Chucksteel, you can download it from the Alpha Download page just read the part about the manual installation.

Good luck, hope you can fix it soon wink.

I have tried both a direct install into the NV directory and installing elsewhere and zipping it up for Nexus Mod Manager Install.

Did you download the patches

Post by JaxFirehart » Wed Feb 27, 2013 11:29 pm

Did you download the patches off of the internet and run them? When you download from G4WL you do not get a fully patched game, you still need to apply the patches. Do you have any other mods running? Did you install TTW over a clean installation of FNV?

Have you ever played FNV on this computer?

I have played NV on this

Post by a.indigo.smith » Wed Feb 27, 2013 11:36 pm

I have played NV on this computer, but it is a fresh install, I DLed and ran the 1.7 patch from Beth, only other mod is the 4GB thing, and tried that after I had this error in the hopes that it might help.

I don't know what changed,

Post by a.indigo.smith » Thu Feb 28, 2013 4:14 am

I don't know what changed, probably had some sort of mod relic lurking, but deleting every folder in my PC that had some connection to NV and reinstalling appears to have fixed the menu crash, still have that weird Point Lookout BSAs cant be patched bug, but so far it has not caused problems, now to install the mods I cant live without :)

The un-patched point lookout

Post by JaxFirehart » Thu Feb 28, 2013 4:27 am

The un-patched point lookout bsas will cause some models to appear as big red exclamation points. In the bug tracker a similar problem was reported. the only missing mesh should be the mine cart, the fixed version can be found on that page. As for sounds... I dont think there is anything to worry about there. Enjoy your time with TTW!
