Massive BSA Problems

Post by charwo » Tue May 07, 2013 3:52 pm

My TTW installations have been massive failures!!! Everything but the BSAs unpack just fine. The BSA's though couldn't be more problematic. At first is was that the Fallout 3 BSAs wouldn't extract properly, then I got the BSA opt experimental, and it went further down the line as stops with a command box  that says the TTW- Main.bsa has failed to patch properly.

What is it supposed to patch too? This has been going on for a week.It should not be this hard. WTF is the problem, and HTF do I fix it?

Lets start with posting FO3

Post by TJ » Tue May 07, 2013 4:15 pm

Lets start with posting FO3/NV Versions, and some info:

they need to both be updated to the latest patch and in the proper folders or the patch is going to flip the F out and error like hell, because it thinks you have a modified (read: pirated) version of the game. ie: FO3 GOTY GFWL version is now mostly compatable (in previous incarnations of this mod it was not compatible at all,) but a modified/pirated version of the game is incompatible for that very reason. IE you have to actually own BOTH games and ALL DLC (Except the courier's Stash,) and they HAVE to be properly installed and UPDATED, or you'll error out.

Additionally, you'll have to have actually read through the download page and have made the requisite downloads and installations. If this is done previously you can skip this part. If you are unsure if these installations have been made on your machine DO NOT skip this part.

The best way to do the install (at least for me, on my machine [W7x64]) is to UNZIP the TTW package to a folder on my desktop, though I've ran it from a folder in my downloads folder no problem as well. Install the TTW files to a files to a seperate, empty folder on your desktop then copy them to your original FNV folder.

My project Dash is on Kickstarter!

It's fresh installs on GOTY

It's fresh installs on GOTY and NVUE, both 100% legal unless there's shady shit going on at walmart.

Some details from the chat

Post by sesom » Tue May 07, 2013 5:09 pm

Some details from the chat with charwo to help jax to analyze the problem.

The install was tried under Windows XP 32 bit. The PC appears to be a older one. Free Harddisk space on C and D is very low but should be enough for TTW. The normal 32 bit BSAOpt failed every try. So we tried the risky Alpha from Nexus (which worked for TrickyVein) with the result that is mentioned in the first post.

Updating FO3 to Patch 1.7 was tried.

Please charwo if you have more details please fill them in. The more details, the better. It's the only way that jax can find the problem.

Also charwo don't forget that the whole team invests a lot of their free time to make TTW even possible. A mod isn't a commercial product. It is a privilege for the mod user that it is shared not a right.

TTW is still in Alpha no one wants it to be hard to install but not all problems are solved yet and there can be troubles in some configurations (like yours).

I'll keep that in mind.

I'll keep that in mind. However, I'm trying to figure out why its so hard without understanding anything of how computers work. If you want details, I don't know any; I don't have a clue how any of the gutty works work. None of it's ever made any kind of sense to me.

Read this post and download and install team viewer. Then send me a PM sometime tomorrow between 9am and 3pm (Mountain Time, GMT-6) and I will invade your computer and see if I can't fix your installer.

I've thought about it and no.

I've thought about it and no. No one is getting to see my machine. Bad, bad idea.

With that out of the way, what is this patching feature? Why even in theory would it not work?

Hey thanks! It's looking like I might have to wait for the next version update. If so so be it.

Could I have a bad download?
