Error installing FOMOD with MO

Post by GhostPilot » Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:40 pm

As of 2.7.3a, I've encountered an odd error that pops up after the FOMOD is done installing. The mod does show up in the left panel after closing the pop-up but the error message leads to believe it's a faulty install. I have 64bit Windows 7, 12 gigs of RAM, my CPU is an AMD FX 6300, and my MO version is 1.2.14. The TTW installer showed no errors at all and I've tried a fresh download of the installer along with a clean folder to place it in to no avail. Previous versions of TTW installed perfectly fine on MO so I'm at a bit of a loss. The link below is a screencap of the error itself.

You're doing a FOMOD install

You're doing a FOMOD install of TTW with MO?? Why?

Go to the folder you told the TTW Installer to output files to. Right click Main Files and click rename, then press Home and type TTW [space] and hit enter. Do the same for Optional. Then copy both folders to Mod Organizer/Mods. Go to Mod Organizer/Profiles/[Whatever Profile you'll use TTW with, presumably Default] and make the changes to Fallout.ini and FalloutPref.ini there that are listed under Manual Installation: Step 2 on the alpha download page. Next you'll want to- oh wait, that's all. 30 seconds of work. Isn't that better than waiting 10 minutes for a mod manager to either install or choke on installing TTW?

Grib pointed out to me that all you'd need to do with the ini's for TTW with MO is add a fallout.ini file to TTW Main Files folder. The only thing inside it should be:

[General]

SCharGenQuest=001FFFF8

sIntroMovie=

bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1

So anybody in the future following this information should do this instead of what I said to change above.

I suppose I just assumed FOMOD was the way to go because of the option in the installer being marked as recommended. Thanks TJ, it is nice to cut out that longer wait.

Most people round here don't use MO, I do. Nothing against FOMM but after using MO for... awhile now, I know a few tricks cheeky

MO is awesome once you adapt to it's quirks.
