Installation Issues

Post by plinky » Thu Jun 27, 2013 10:21 am

Well I downloaded the zip file and had begun installing TTW through the patcher ensuring that the directories were correct after about 4 hours + the installation had completed however when I open up New Vegas I am not presented with the Fallout 3 Content. My load order is correct but nothing from Fallout 3 displays after my installation I was presented with numerous messages saying that Fallout 3 and its dlc bsa's are not supported. One thing I noticed was that my command prompt doesn't display any text as opposed to this guide "http://www.taleoftwowastelands.com/sites/default/files/chucksteel/ttw_insall_guide_with_pictures_3.pdf" . Now My best guess would have to be that I myself have done something wrong as thats usually the case with these kinds of issues. I bought F3 for this and had New Vegas modded before, not sure whether this effects the installation but I'm throwing it out there as I know certain mods are incompatible with TTW. I bought F3 from gamefly and New vegas from Steam so they are located in different directories I have all the dlc and so I'm stumped on where i have gone wrong if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Always install TTW on

Always install TTW on completely new install of NV and FO3.

That said, I don't think it would have helped you. I am not familiar with Gamefly, but there are others who are experiencing issues with the DLCs and the installer saying they are not recognized. Wait for 2.3 (Jax is improving the installer).

Also, 4 hours is a long time. I didn't exactly time my install, but I don't recall it taking much more than an hour, if that. Has anyone else had to wait this long?

You're very welcome. The devs work on this in their free time, when they have free time. They also get burnout from time to time. I'd prefer Jax and Chuck take a break when needed as opposed to quit entirely because they are tired of questions like is it done/when will it be done when they're working their ass off on the perfect FO mod.

I don't think it is an unreasonable question it's honest and simple, I'm not attempting to put any pressure on them whatsoever but if they know when they will finish and are willing to let me know then why withhold that information. While I do appreciate that the developers do work on this project by themselves and have put great effort into it, I don't see the reason for being snarky to a post on a forum where questions are meant to be asked as being particularly helpful. This thread is concerned with installation issues and frankly not whether the developers are tired of repetitive questions like is it done/when is it done? Your support for the developers is commendable but very misguided I suggest you review how you reply to individuals that are looking for assistance.

Not being snarky but v2.3

Post by chucksteel » Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:18 pm

Not being snarky but v2.3 will be done when it's done. We bowed to pressure from the community and prematurely released v2.0 it had some issues and we caught a lot of flack for those issues. We won't be making the same mistake again.

V2.3 is out for testing right now and once we are satisfied that it is stable it will be released to the public.

What Chuck said.

Also, while TJ was snarky, it was a somewhat absurd question. I see it get asked a lot on mod pages and what-not, and every time its like fingernails down a blackboard.

Modding is a hobby; there is no release schedule. Even if, hypothetically, 99% of the work for Generic Mod A had been done, and had been done in less than one week, it might, for various RL reasons, not be released for one hundred million years (est). And while it's all very good to say people will understand if mod authors' circumstances change, you can bet your life that some neck-bearded, self-important, self-righteous, shitstain of a person will come along and start making demands and complaining.

I for one do not want that here, in this somewhat reclusive section of the internet, and anything that would encourage that situation occur, ie release dates, can stay away. Very far away.
