Crash at Main Menu

Post by Vindr20 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 10:23 pm

I am experiencing a crash when FNV loads the main menu.

To start off, I began with a clean game. No mods, minor or otherwise. I used steam to delete local content and then manually deleted any files left over, as well as the entire save/settings directory in the documents directory.

Next, After reinstalling both Fallout 3 GOTY and Fallout NV (with all DLC's), I downloaded the new TTW Installer (2.1a), it autodetected my game directories, and I installed it, No messages appeared, and the install proceeded to the end without any issues.

Here comes the problem. I manually used NMM to reorder the load order to follow the directions at the Alpha Download site, and then launched the game. It proceeds, music and all, untill the main menu. There, just before it would seem the menu options would load in, the game crashes. (I did test the game before installing TTW, it ran fine.)

I have no idea why this is happening. I've rechecked my load order several times, and even repeated the whole process over again. I'm out of ideas, and I'd appreciate any help.

I've attached my install log incase that would help.

I should also point out that If I disable all of the fallout3 and TTW esm/esps, the game load fine.

A lot of your BSAs could not be found. That's just quickly looking into your log. Seems to be happening to a lot of people. Jax is working on an improved installer. Might just have to wait.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

In one of my previous looks I'd noticed that, but whenever it cannot find anything, it seems to be looking in my destination folder. I don't know if that's a bug with the installer or something else.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried many different things along with the help of Chuck. Seems some of us will just need to wait. Sorry about the poor luck. You could keep trying, though. Maybe if you find a fix, you could post it and help others.

Yeap, I'll try. I'll make sure to post a solution If I find one.

Thanks for the help.

Although, I'd like to point out (in case it matters) that a little thing that caught my eye in the log was "Your version of Fallout3.esm cannot be patched."

Comparing my log to one that Jax called "good" (it was on this page: http://www.taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-20-out?page=1 ), It's the only thing I can find that's different.

If that is the problem, I really can't imagine what trouble it's having with it. Both F3 and NV are legal on my end, and as far as I know, GOTY has the last patch.

Anyway, thought I'd post it incase it mattered.

i've read in quite a few different places that even if you install the GOTY version you should still run the Official 1.7 patch.

you might give that a go.

I actually tried that on my third try. The patch stalls in the middle. After looking up the cause, it is because I was running GOTY.

Also, I was able to successfully use TTW in the previous version (1.4)
