GNR Doesn't Report Proper News

Post by Proph » Sat Jan 25, 2014 7:35 am

Been playing the new version of TTW for a while now and I have noticed that Three Dog rarely reports on news from quests that are completed. He almost always plays the same news as if I had just emerged from the vault, even reporting on quests that I have already completed as if they are yet to be resolved.

Example: He continually reports that the settlement of Grayditch has "gone quiet," even though I had successfully completed the quest. He also almost never reports on quests that I have completed. In fact the only quest that I can recall him talking about upon my completion was the Wasteland Survival Guide, even though I have now completed every marked side quest.

Not sure what's causing this problem. Obviously it's not a major issue, but it is a bit disappointing since it was such an enjoyable feature of FO3.

I remember it happening occasionally in the original FO3, but never so bad as to have him basically never report anything.

there is a Broken steel Radio fix on the Nexus. I use it and it works with TTW. You will just need to convert it.

We should really convert that

We should really convert that fix and then put it in the TTW core.  Vote yay or nay?

Vote yay.

I'm not active on the forums much, but I've been following the project for over a year now. I think now that the latest version is highly stable (with the exception of one Mothership Zeta issue) it would be a good idea to begin incorporating bug fixes to address issues that were already in the game.

The reason for this is not just to make the mod "better," but is also a matter of practicality. If players are forced to apply fixes or mods themselves it increases the likelihood of conflict and instability. Combining everything into one package simplifies the experience for lay users, and helps to increase exposure and support for the project.

As far as I know there are no plans to incorporate bugfix mods into TTW. We are planning/ working on a bugfix pack for TTW, but as far as I know it's not getting incorporated. As for your comment about the game becoming unstable, no amount of bugfix packs is going to stop users from breaking their games.
