NVSE Not Detected?

Post by Krux » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:41 am

I've (thought) been using nvse, flopped between nvse 3 beta2 and nvse 2 beta12, after noticing this issue.

i'll start with this: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/39968

saw a cool flashlight mod, wanted it, said requires nvse.. no problem, got that, ttw works with it.

tried installing it, "mcm not detected" (ok, i'll go get that), "nvse not detected".....what?

mcm installation menu says the same thing, nvse not detected. i uninstall nvse and try to reinstall it, go back to mcm/flashlight, and they keep telling me they aren't detected.

does any1 have mods that REQUIRE nvse to run? like...in a visible difference? ex: additional HUD icons, like unified hud project? i tried those earlier and thought they merely weren't compatible with TTW. ..but this is 1 of those instances except the game isn't launched with mods installed and THEN im having issues, the installation itself is saying it's a problem with nvse. there is no collision with ttw yet so something is wrong..

unless it's not just me. any1 using said flashlight mod? mcm? unified hud? advanced recon gear? anything like that?

EDIT: i feel as though i should mention.... when i install either version of NVSE, they tell me they detected an older version and ask if i would like to upgrade FROM.......*drumroll*........ttw_interiorsproject_v1.1_0

and if i uninstall that for the moment, it's trying to upgrade NVSE from....... DUINVv04....as the older version.

and yea i get this from ttw_interiorsproject when nvse isn't installed, tells me it's an upgraded version of DUINV and asks if i would like to replace it with that

not a fukn clue why, any ideas?

It's definitely not my area, but I seem to recall in the past reading something that people shouldn't try mods that require NVSE or something like that, I remember that was before the public alpha so I don't know how the status of NVSE is for the time being.

But the alpha download page says that when TTW reaches beta is when mod support and compatibility is going to start being worked on so maybe only then there will be NVSE support too.

That's just my thoughts so don't rely on it much angel.

well.. i got the mcm and flashlight to "detect" nvse now.

..that doesn't mean they actually work. MCM is supposed to have a navigational menu in the Pause screen. it doesn't.

i think NVSE is technically compatible with Alpha TTW, but not all mods are compatible with TTW. extended hud DEFINITELY doesn't work... just might be the case with mcm, and a lot of these other HUD modifiers.

=\

For me, MCM is working with Project Nevada, Primary Needs HUD, Immersive Hud, and I have the Unified HUD project going as well so PN and Primary Needs HUD work together. So far, everything seems to be working the way that it should.

I am tempted to add in Adjustable HUD so I can tweak the iHud a bit, but we'll see.

MCM, Project Nevada, oHUD and HUDExtended are all working for me as well. Krux, I downloaded and tried the color changer you found in the other thread and it changed Darn's colors but MCM and Project Nevada both reported MCM wasn't found. I re-ran Unified HUD, which rebuilds the xml settings based on what is installed, and everything started working but it reverted to using the default colors. I'm thinking the start_menu.xml file will have to be manually edited for everything to work as you want.

@Krux, if you know that you loaded NVSE, don't worry about it.  The problem you are having is probably related to a mod looking for a specific NVSE release instead of just checking to see if NVSE X.X is loaded.  Now, if something is not working correctly, then revisit your NVSE install or version.    Also, there is a specific install order you need to do Darni, PN, MCM, uHUD, oHUD, and etc for the MCM menu to show up.  Don't forget the MCM and PN MCM bug fixes.

From  oHUD

1. Deactivate Unified HUD (if used).

2. Activate Darnified UI.

3. Activate Project Nevada

4. Activate Mod Configuration Menu (MCM)

5. Activate all other HUD altering mods (see above list).

6. Activate One HUD (oHUD) *.

7. Activate Unified HUD *.

No matter if you run all of the above or not, if you run one more more, they must be installed in the above order.
