Freezing

Post by bigcrazewolf » Fri Nov 30, 2012 3:30 pm

My game keeps freezing 5 times in about 10 minutes, it's happening in the Citadel A Ring, turned off the few mods I had running and still consent freezing. Please help man going crazy lol

edit - also happening in the Lab and B Ring

edit 2 - it almost always freezes upon opening a container

It happens so much I don't want to play the game now.

Start a new file and play for

Start a new file and play for a bit and see if it stops freezing. When similar things have happened to me it was because I was carrying too much stuff. If you have a companion, try giving them some of your stuff. I'm not sure if dropping it on the ground will do much good.

its not necessarily carry

Post by JaxFirehart » Sat Dec 01, 2012 7:21 pm

its not necessarily carry weight thats the problem, its having thousands of something, usually ammo or lead.

None of that matters, though, if it only happens in the citadel.

How far have you progressed in the MQ? Have you started/completed Broken steel?

Try to play somewhere else for a bit, like NV ideally, and see if it starts happening again.

What were you doing in the citadel? How long did you spend there?

Sorry, lots of questions, but I'm pretty well stumped.

As for the MQ I just woke up

Post by bigcrazewolf » Sat Dec 01, 2012 7:50 pm

As for the MQ I just woke up in the Citadel two weeks after the big shoot out, it's happened in both rings and the lab and it ranged from one minute to about three minutes to freeze on opening a container. I went to Megaton to my pad and no issues even after going in an out of all the containers lots of times, I will fire her up in a while to do some more testing in different areas.

No worries on the questions bud :) I just hope I'm being as specific as you need....cause I'm stumpped to lol.

Well I have a hunch its broken steel related, no idea why, just a gut feeling. My guess is some script that only runs while you are in the citadel. Send me your load order, including the mods you were using before. Sometimes just disabling them isn't enough and the game will act as if certain parts of them are still activated and certain parts are not.

Whenever i've had really slow

Post by rickerhk » Sat Dec 01, 2012 10:13 pm

Whenever i've had really slow response trying to open containers, in FO3 or FNV, I have to do a PCB at the console to 'fix' it for awhile. From that I would say it's a resource starvation thing. It always happens to me when I get to a large mod loadout. But if you don't have many mods I guess it could be a script gone awry... or are you using any hi-rez texture replacer mods?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I don't have any texture replacer mods and I only have four mods running.
