Lone Wonderer`s age?

Post by a2937 » Sun Feb 12, 2017 11:03 pm

When the character leaves the vault, the Lone Wanderer is nineteen years old. That much is understood. How old is the character when the New Vegas portion begins(aka when he arrives by train)? Would the character be twenty-nine by the end of both the Fallout 3 and New Vegas storylines? I am deeply invested into the lore.

Considering New Vegas kinda let's you set your own age and TTW has a 4 year gap when taking the train to New Vegas,he's about 23.At most,he'd be in his twenties,mid to late twenties if everything on the Fallout 3 side is completed.

In TTW, there is a "9 years later" screen after you travel to the West on the Train for the first time. So your character is about 28-30 by the time of New Vegas.

In the official Fallout 3

In the official Fallout 3 canon the Lone Wanderer is actually 19 years old when leaving the Vault 101 for the first time.

So yes, the 28-30 years of age is most likely in TTW after transitioning to New Vegas side of things - Depending on how much time elapses before taking the train - I do recall something like over one year of gameworld time passing for a fairly completionist playthrough of Fallout 3 and all of its DLC before taking the train to New Vegas (of course it is possible to take the train a lot sooner or even much later than this).. A likely timeline might go like this; 19 years old fresh out of Vault 101, 29 years of age after taking the train, 30+ years of age after completing New Vegas and all of it's DLCs.

For more details and information, see the wikia;

(And of course there are mods in existence where the Lone Wanderer leaves the vault a lot earlier.. even as a baby.)

Okay, so here's what I'm

Okay, so here's what I'm understanding here as of the latest TTW version. What's the "canonical" time transition from the Capital Wasteland to the Mojave Wasteland is the Nine Years later card that shows when you take the train for the first time, correct? Cause the date on the player's Pipboy is still 2281, which is the canonical year of New Vegas as opposed to TTW. So the player himself/herself should go by the nine years later card and not the date on the Pipboy. Do I have that down right?

Nope. The date on the Pip-Boy

Post by EnderDragonFire » Wed Feb 22, 2017 8:03 pm

Nope. The date on the Pip-Boy is correct. The start of Fallout 3 is pushed backwards in time in TTW, rather than pushing the start of FNV forward. Currently, the age of the LW is 19 + (time spent in DC before takign train) + 9 years.

However, due note that the next version of TTW is replacing the 9 years with 4 years, which  better reflects official Fallout canon. The Lone Wanderer would be 22-24 depending on birth date.

Thanks, EnderDragonFire. Glad everyone here noticed that and wanted things to be more "canon friendly" as a result, thus letting their concerns be known.
