Issue with completing Head of State Quest

Post by albynobanana » Mon Aug 24, 2015 1:57 pm

Hello

I've done the thing which people say not to do and I killed the slavers before Hannibal got to the Lincoln Memorial. (I just can't trust him not to get himself killed in a stupid way)

So now I need to complete the quest using console commands I have no idea which console command to use.

I did some digging and found:

setstage "0a014e99" 100 and variation on that but nothing seems to be working.

I also found another post suggesting that the first two digits must change based on my load order but I have absolutely no idea what that actually means. They used FNVedit to find them but I don't know how to use FNVEdit, at least not for that.

Any help in providing a console command to simply complete the quest so it is cleared from my quests list would be very much appreciated!

Thank you in advance

FOMM should list all those

Post by Kameraden » Mon Aug 24, 2015 3:45 pm

FOMM should list all those *digits* I'm assuming on it's Mod Index Column.  But in most respects it works for the last 2 digits on spawning times and stuff, so I have no idea if it also works towards the first two digits on "Quest."

I had this exact same problem really.  Every command option I found wouldn't work because of TTW.   I knew it had to be likely a load order thing changing something.   I just killed them all and said "screw" it.  "Quest Failed."  But at least it was cleared off my quest list.

You should learn what formIDs

You should learn what formIDs are and how they are constructed. The first two digits of a formiD CHANGE based on where it is in your load order. The page linked below is perfectly valid except that it assumes that you are loading Fallout3 first when, in reality, you should be loading it seventh or eleventh (06 and 0A respectively).

Read through this tutorial, learn what index Fallout3 is at and try your command again, using Fallout3's index as the first two digits instead of 0a.

I had an issue with the quest

Post by Lyndi » Mon Aug 24, 2015 4:11 pm

I had an issue with the quest if when I killed the slavers without speaking to Leroy Walker. If I spoke to Walker first and then went outside and killed all of the slavers at the memorial the quest worked fine.

The first two digits of an ID are the mod index number. If you installed TTW and have the crap packs for FNV then FO3's index number is 0A. The index number for every mod you have installed is listed in a column in FOMM.

The issue you are having might be related to another mod screwing with your quests. Providing a load order could help troubleshoot your issue.

Thank you for the guidance! I'll give it a look. It looks like I need FOMM.

FOMM or MO (Mod Organizer)

FOMM or MO (Mod Organizer) really makes it easier and you should be using one of them already to make sure that your TTW load order is appropriate. Otherwise you might have tons of unexpected bugs.

I have MO and am quite familiar with it from Skyrim.

Is the Mod Index number in the load order display the number that I need?  The one for Fallout3.esm?

So it is 07 for fallout3.esm so I would enter setstage "07014e99" 100 or completequest "07014e99"?

EDIT: I just entered the above code and it worked!! Thank you for the guidance about formID and the load order for fallout3.esm :D

07 is VERY rare to se as an index and made me cautious. You should post your load order so we can ensure that there isn't anything obviously wrong going on.

Looking at the quest, it

Looking at the quest, it seems that the quest only updates the slaversdead count to 99 (required for dialogue, which is totally unnecessary if they just used the slaversdead count as >= 8 for the dialogue...) if you have the "kill the slavers" objective displayed. Conveniently, you don't get that objective until Hannibal tells you to go kill the slavers, so the quest breaks if you go to the memorial and kill all the slavers before Hannibal tells you to.

I will be including the fix for it in the next update of my unofficial patch.
