What are you doing in TTW?

Post by kraag » Tue Jul 28, 2015 6:31 am

Where are you? What level? What quest are you doing? Have you finished TTW? What's you PCs specialty?

I'm currently going through the Broken Steel DLC, just got to Adams Air Force Base and got zapped by the sentries. I had not been through this dlc in a few years and forgot about the attention to detail in the presidential subways. The evil gnome photographing the teddy bears on the tram lines XD.

Cletus, level 19, caucasian male, sneak, lockpick, speech and guns are his forte.

It's amazing how great this old game really is with hi res texture and mesh packs and a bunch of awesome mods to back it up. A hearty thanks to the TTW team for pulling this off and providing better support than Valve do for their games. Extremely stable too

Provided Todd stays true to his words of a November release for FO4 - TTW play time should last well until then ;)

Currently playing TTW 2.9.4

Post by Decker » Tue Jul 28, 2015 10:54 am

Currently playing TTW 2.9.4 with the options hotfix, TTW interiors, TTW WMX, texture packs (NMC, Poco Bueno) and RWL, Delay DLC, perk every level, level cap 100, powerarmor footsteps, FNV 4GB loader, mods managed with FOMM - This kind of setup has been more stable than ever before, game loading times are also very short and so far no serious bugs at all have been found (got some hiccups in the form of inexplicably crippled framerate in the final OA simulator mission with Ancorage optional customization plugin, but saving, exiting and loading that game again sorted that one out totally, also there were some minor issues with Rivet City - some occasional CTDs and NPC swimmers).

This time I am doing a completionist hero playthrough, Hard difficulty and Hardcore Mode, playing through almost all of the quests in a plausible chronological order, I've already been through most DC sidequests, wiped out Paradise Falls, did OA, the Pitt(sided with slaves) and MZ(amazingly no crashes, no bugs whatsoever in all of MZ), just did the Oasis quest (growth option) and next on the menu is to find Vault 112/dad and advance the main questline some. It is full possible that F4 comes out before I complete this playthrough - In all, a fairly complete non-speedrun playthrough of both wastelands may take me something like 300 - 400 hours total and in few hour daily increments at most that adds to several months of fun times in the world of Fallout.

Current character;  Anwen, Female, Hispanic, Level 54 (HP frozen at L48, skills already maxed out - Now new levels only add perks), initial tags were Unarmed, Melee and Guns, Vault Occupation(initial GOAT result):Vault Loyalty Inspector. Traits: Skilled and Good Natured, with Wild Wasteland thrown on top (IMHO WW is more like a on/off game mode toggle like 'Hardcore Mode' than a true trait at heart - Hence I usually either console command it in or do not use it at all). Karma:Very Good.

Roughly one third of those experience levels were gained by using the Voracious Reader perk (L22 req) to restore literally tons of ruined books into Pre War books and then hauling them (overencumbered Fast Traveling with the Long Haul perk) to Scribe Yearling at the Arlington Library for archival.

Favorite weapons at the moment; Heavy Machine Gun .50 cal(best used with Power Armor), Spiked Knuckles or Bare Fists, .223 Pistol, Bullpup Sniper Rifle .308, Vampire's Blade. Favorite Armors: Enclave Power Armor(medium) and DCPD SWAT Armor(light). Basically now I use Power Armor and HMG (from TTW WMX mod) for heavy combat sorties (like clearing out super mutant concentrations or fighting the enclave), otherwise the DCPD SWAT armor (from TTW interiors mod) with more conventional weapons is a sufficient loadout and can benefit from both Travel Light and Light Touch perks.

Yet again, my thanks go to the TTW team for making the magic happen by combining two of my favorite games into one awesome game to rule them all, and then going on and supporting it with additional mods to make it even more awesome!

Ha, I put Harold out of his misery :) 300 - 400 hours is a pretty good estimate... with the hires texmeshes it really does pay to slow right down and look at all the eye candy. Heck I spent 15 minutes reading the fine detail on a can of cram! And I could actually read the ingredient list on the back!

My current weapons only number 7 plus 5 gorgeous little "Shredder" grenades. 1:Mateba Model 6 Unica pistol [from WOTNM], 2:Pancor Jackhammer shotgun[WOTNM], 3:Plasma Disruptor pistol, 4:M14 silenced rifle[WOTNM], 5:.308 Walther WA2000 sniper rifle [F*CKING BEAUTIFUL! I left the timber stock as is], 6:AK-47 silenced, kobra scope, extended mag[WOTNM], 5.56 Light Machine Gun. I usually upgrade if something better comes along later.

I honestly should be playing this game more, but I have been modding it a fair bit lately too, GECK is a tedious misery to work with - but the end results that can be accomplished with it are insanely good. I find myself using it more and more to make small alterations to the game to make it my own.

Another reason I love computers, you just can not do this sort of customisation with consoles at all.

Edit: I have TTW Interiors but I have not yet seen the DCPD SWAT armor you mentioned, where did you find that? My current armor is Gophers Advanced Recon Armor sets, love that night vision ;)

Damn, that really sucks man. Sorry for your loss :(

If there is one thing I truly dread it's having to get a stable modded version of the game running again from scratch - Install order, conflicts, new versions, hotfixes, old versions, load order, merged patches - BBBBAAAAASSSSHHHHHEEEEEDDDDD PPPPAAAATTTTCCCCCHHHHHEESSSS!!!!!!

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! :P

My last bash patch I seriously spent the better part of three entire days making sure it was thorough. No shit. My eyes were so sore. I even switched back to black text on white background.

Then there's the G.E.C.K.  crying A thing of great and pure evil, designed soley to infuriate people and geeks alike. Making the latter's arm muscles huge due to all the computers being thrown out windows in torrents of RAGE!

I am currently doing a no

Post by JaxFirehart » Wed Jul 29, 2015 1:04 pm

I am currently doing a no weapon skill playthrough.

Not a pacifist playthrough.

Basically, I am pumping up science, speech, repair, lockpick, survival, barter... all the non combat skills to 100 before I touch a combat skill. For this purpose I am including sneak as a non-combat skill.

I also set up my SPECIAL to be approximately how I see myself in real life.

S -  5

P -  3

E -  4

C -  7

I -   9

A -  5

L -  7

I'm really liking the constraints that SPECIAL alone puts on me. For the first time in a long time I've invested perks in intense training in order to boost my Perception and Endurance to at least 5. I needed to get Hand Loader ASAP because, with such low weapon skill, I miss a lot and really need the extra ammo. My build is turning into a crit build because the only useful perks for a while have been Improved Criticals, Finesse and the like.
