The site hosting service got some problems (like a DDoS attack or something like that).

There was multiple problems, DDoS on the DNS servers of the host was only one of them.

Perfect timing for the vacation. Oh well, not much you can do about that, especially for a small site. This is hardly google or yahoo, after all. Glad to see things working again. Hope your vacation worked out and you didn't have to cut it short or anything.
