Timescale adjustments on FNV

Post by Dood » Sun Jun 14, 2015 1:54 pm

Now I know the FAQ said timescale altering breaks FO3 and Broken Steel DLC. What about FNV? I've played FNV with a changed timescale value before TTW just fine.

It breaks stuff in FNV too, cutscenes don't work right, messes with hardcore if it's not compensated for and some quests may fail to complete, same as F3.

So "breaking stuff in FNV" you mean it's TTW causing that, or it's a vanilla bug from NV?

Heh, it's a pity too. Before this recent update, PN used to set timescale automatically to 20. Dunno that that caused any major issues though.

It broke things for me, I used to try and play with timescale 12. It screwed up quests with timer stuff like Contreres and the girl that goes to the Boomers.

I still don't understand how timescale adjustments screw with fallout fatally. I've used PN's timescale adjustment on NV and have never had ANY problems, same with Fallout 3 when I used the console to set the timescale to 20.

Either way, I prefer the timescale at 20 rather than 30. Gives the world a feel that time is actually relative to it's actually movement while not taking forever.

So do the issues just become apparent with TTW? I'm part way through FO3's story without any problems so far?

Personally I'm using timescale 20 (PN) and sometimes 10 without any issues so far. Even the hardcore needs adjust accordingly.

Just in case, I always reset the timescale back to 30 (default) when playing the main quest and DLCs

I'm always using Timescale 8

I'm always using Timescale 8 in F3, for like 10 full play throughs by now, and I can't say that I've ever noticed a single issue with it. It certainly isn't breaking Broken Steel, which I've played every time.
