Need a little guidence

Post by Royhr » Tue Mar 17, 2015 1:34 pm

Ok I had a bad couple of weeks as far as hardware. Went thru like 3 video cards and just had other issues. So I just decided to upgrade. And I probably went overkill a bit but was lucky to be able to just do it right now. So I upgraded to the following...

OS - Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Processor - Intel i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz 6 Core

Memory - 16GB Quad Channel DDR4 at 2133MHz

Video Cards - Dual 8GB GDDR5NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 SLI

Display - Dell 27" FPD

Now I was already running the OS and had the monitor but figured I'd include that info....

Ok I'm not all that knowledgeable as far video so hopefully somebody can help me as far what to set it to as far as TTW goes because I seem to be seeing too many crashes. As far as the game and mods go well it seems like it's crashing more with this setup so far than with my previous setup but it's basically the same mod configuration I had before and I didn't have this much of an issue. So I'm thinking that maybe it's a video config or something? I do run

I'm wondering about the video cards and running SLI if that is of any concern?

When the game started the first time it suggested that the video be set to Ultra.

So that is where it is set to right now with all of the default settings.

I have not done any ini edits other than for Darn.

I am not running any ENB at this time.

I do run NVSE. Are there any other type mods like this I should consider?

FNV is not good with SLI/

In my experience FNV is not good with SLI/ Crossfire. You can test for improvements by just using Nvidia control panel to disable for just this game and seeing how it does. Also use NVAC and NVSR if you aren't already.

Ok great I'll give those

Ok great I'll give those suggestions a try. I'm sort of hoping maybe it might be something to do with SLI. Guess we'll see...

BTW when I said I ran NVSE I really meant to say that I was already running NVSR... I will add NVAC which for some reason I did not have installed.

Ok so far so good.... I think that adding NVAC may have helped a lot. Since installing it I've had no problems. When I checked about the SLI it seems like it was already disabled. Think I hadn't enabled it as yet.

What would I gain by adding an ENB? And would the Onix ENB be the recommended one for TTW?

Some say yes and some say no.

Try different ENBs.

Well just a quick followup.

Well just a quick followup. After doing the couple of things suggested I have to say that the game has been playing flawlessly. I have not had a single crash which is amazing because I've never gone this long in either FO3 or FONV ever without some sort of crash. Also I can't remember even any sort of slowdown or lag. It's ben running very smoothly so far. Of course now I've probably cursed myself.... But it's really amazing how far you guys have brought this mod and for it to be so stable even running lots of mods. All I can say is thanks to all who contribute. yes
