A hotfix request that should improve performence

Post by LittlePip » Fri Jan 23, 2015 10:31 pm

When in the Capital Wasteland, have all the NPC scripts (Modded ones unincluded or have to be detected that it's part of NVWorldSpace) in the Nevada Wasteland freeze (Sort of like a time lapse) and when you go to the Mojave/Nevada, everything would start moving while the Capital Wasteland is "stuck in time" or it's NPC scripts are disabled.

Longer loading times, sure but it sure fixes performance.

My curiosity has been piqued. How would this be done? And how would you un-freeze NPCs that are used in cross-content mods?

I personally don't know.

I personally don't know. Probably requires scripting. But then again, these are the guys who merged Fallout NV's contents into Fallout 3.

You're asking us to tear it

Post by TJ » Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:02 pm

You're asking us to tear it all apart and do it again in a way that will better support low end rigs. You need 8GB ram to run TTW comfortably. You need a decent CPU to run TTW comfortably. This is because you're essentially loading two games. If you have those things, you probably aren't worried about freezing NPCs.

Well, I guess there's no way to workaround it then. I'm gonna get a new PC when I move back to Las Vegas anyways. A 3 year wait won't be a while... Right? *Sigh*

Try add 128/256 GB SSD and install NV in there? it will slightly help your performance. I got 240GB one in 110-120USD (13,0000KRW)

Umm, I'd rather just get a new PC Rig with 16 gigs. I'm still stuck in 2008 with 6 gigs of RAM.

I always like to point out to folks that for over a year, I ran TTW with basically a mid-end computer from 2008. 2GB of RAM. Dual core something or other. No, I couldn't imagine playing with any hi-res texture packs, and some other mods threw my FPS into the gutter, but the vanilla game more or less ran on High settings.

So what I'm saying is, better hardware is nice, but vanilla TTW really only 'needs' the specs required to play NV.

I have a C2D E8500 @ 3.8GHZ with 8GB ram and it runs fine for me even with heavy mods like both AWOP mods and NMC's largest packs.
