Enclave Armor Replacer

Post by fablesamurai » Mon Nov 03, 2014 7:55 pm

I'll start off by saying I've seen a few posts that sort of talk about this but none that answer my question directly.

So having been a long time Fallout player I was really excited when I found out that Fallout 3 would have the Enclave again, but I was disappointed when I started to see the Enclave soldiers in this strange armour. This new Mk II advanced power armour was now bulkier and more menacing than the old advance power armour. Okay, but as a Mk II it's not better than old T-51b power armour (50 DT for the FO3 T-51b). That just never made sense to me since in Fallout 2 advance power armour was better than the T-51b. Well then FNV came out and the Brotherhood was back in its natural T-51b (that's a whole different discussion) and that there was classic style advance power armour models in the game files, and the armour ratings were back to a more realistic value.

So my question, after all that, is if there is a mod that fully replaces all Enclave power armour with the FNV style advanced power armour, and if possible balances the values to the New Vegas DTs. I would do it myself but with TTW installed I don't want to mess up the mod by trying to make a sloppy conversion mod. Thanks a bunch in advance.

That wouldn't be too hard.

That wouldn't be too hard. Just go into the GECK, find the Enclave formlists and replace every instance of Enclave PA and Tesla PA with the Remnants PA. Not difficult.

Dodger, have you tried looking up tutorials on how to edit NPC's on youtube or the GECK forums ? I know there are tutorials there that could show you what you need to know.

Wouldn't it be even easier

Wouldn't it be even easier just to change the models used by Enclave PA and Tesla PA to the same one used by Remnants PA and adjust the stats to match?  I've done it before to make it look like they were using http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8158/? I just changed the biped model to the one from this mod.  It wouldn't actually give them Remnants armor but so long as it looks the same and has the same stats what difference does it make.

Then you should look up some tutorials and mess around with it to figure out how to do things in it. Trust me, I hardly know how to do anything in the GECK myself. However, I used to know a lot less and when I would try asking for steps on how to do things I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do any of what the person said.

And how would you put your lore in ingame values?

If I understand it right:

- MK I, Tesla MK I and T-51b would be heavy Power Armor with more protection

- MK II, Tesla MK II and T-45d would be light Power Armor with less protection

- Hellfire would be Medium Power Armor with good Protection

If that is would you recommend, its a nice idea actually.

Maybe I make a small Power Armor Mod, that does something like it.

The main problem with Tesla

Post by RoyBatty » Tue Mar 24, 2015 4:20 pm

The main problem with Tesla armor as it's made for EMP resistance, and there is few EMP weapons in the game. Also AC (light, medium, heavy) appear to have no bearing on the armor at all other than movement speed penalties which seems entirely silly based on the "lore". I still think armor should be balanced to have high DR and a lower value for DT like the F1/2 armors. I think I will make my own little rebalance for this now.

If you do you rebalancing mod

Post by Darkersun » Wed Mar 25, 2015 2:21 pm

If you do you rebalancing mod, than please share it :) Sounds like a good one.

I give the Tesla Armor also a boost in energy resistance, so it will be better against EMP/Laser/Plasma and worse agisnt bullets and explosives, when compared against standart APA.
