TTW with PN and FWE?

Post by OldSedan » Wed Apr 24, 2013 4:49 am

Howdy,

I'm just getting into my first playthrough of TTW. I'm so far tickled at being able to play FO3 with the better engine, but I'm noticing the difficulty isn't where I'm used to - I think because I don't have FWE running. I've got Project Nevada installed, but I've got the suspicion that PN's changes don't carry over completely to the Capital. Would it cause a headache to install FWE, and would it behave the same as when installed onto vanilla FO3?

PN contains a lot of the same "features" as FWE; sprint, bullet time, etc. I think you're going to have a bad time running them together.

That's certainly true. Do you know if the changes PN makes to enemy difficulty and AI carry over to the FO3 content?

They should, but it depends on how those changes are implemented.  I have found that TTW is a lot harder when I'm running PN, if that's any consolation.

PN makes changes almost

Post by Gribbleshnibit8 » Mon Apr 29, 2013 1:03 am

PN makes changes almost exclusively through either feature modifications, which are things like the visor overlays, sprint, and stealth changes, and through gameplay modifications, which are pretty much exclusively confined to the Rebalance module. Rebalance works by altering the game settings, which are used by the game engine to derive pretty much all statistics, such as how fast you get hungry, and how far away NPCs can detect you in various circumstances.

So to answer you question yes, the PN sneak difficulty will carry over just fine. In fact, so far as I can tell, and with the exclusion of the Equipment module, pretty much every PN change carries over fine, just maybe not with full integration in the case of FO3 specific items (like outcast armor and DLC stuff).

I would not suggest running with FWE and PN at the same time, nor would I actually suggest using FWE at all. It was great for FO3, but we have so much better now, and the changes FWE makes are so core to the game that it would be a nightmare to test everything.

so turns out PN does not effect loot rarity in fallout 3. which is game breaking :/ does anyone know a mod that will work, or can someone tell me how i can make it so this does work? i have never modded before, but i would be willing to in order to make it work. the loot rarity just needs to have an effect on the wasteland. i tested with loot chances on zero across the board, reset the cells, and nothing changed. :(

Why is it gamebreaking, if I may ask?

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

"gamebreaking" is a bit of an exaggeration.  unless it's causing a crash to desktop or something cheeky

at some point we need to make a full PN compatibility patch that addresses these kinds of issues, but PN is such a massive and complex mod, it would take a real genius to do it.
