OK that's what I thought. So Zeta and PointLookout are the problem child. There seems to be 2 versions. One downloaded and one GOTY.
I remember the pitt is also frequently a problem. TTW already has a second patch to account for it.
Reading the wiki and I found this:
In addition, two bundles with disc versions of the add-ons were released for PC and Xbox 360. The first Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack was made available on May 26, 2009 and consists of Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt and a Vault Boy poster. The second pack was published on August 25, 2009 and contains Broken Steel as well as Point Lookout. Both retail packages cost $19.99 US each. Mothership Zeta is not available on any disc other than the Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition.
Maybe The Pitt from that FO3 Game Add-on Pack is different from the ones from the GoTY and GFWL Download. If only we had someone with that disk around.
So to get it up to speed, you'd need 10% redundancy, which is typical of any fucking release on UseNet, minimum being 10%, but with the files sizing up to 7GBs in total, 10% would be ~1GB of pure PAR2 pieces. 1GB on UseNet is nothing, but for HTTP would be enormus. This may be feasible, but also may not. We'll see when more people turn in their PAR runs.
But only on the files that are different, right?
All of the Fallout3 BSAs are the same so far, so we don't even need to worry about those.

Yes, but if you look at Zeta - Sounds, it's completely different. We'd basically have to upload a 100% PAR2 of Zeta - Sounds, which would take any file and fix it to Zeta - Sounds, essentially you'd be uploading the whole file.
For the others, I'd have to calculate the absolute minimum PAR2 blocks needed to get it to the steam version.
This is seeming less and less like a patch solution and more like a warez distro fix.
We could extract the files and only patch the ones that are different, they can't ALL be different.

I was thinking that, but if they even just compiled the WAVs again or changed them by 1 bit, it will cause them to be different. I'll run some test on an extracted Zeta - Sounds when I get home.

That should go in your signature. Or somewhere.
