DC Events in Mojave

Post by rbroab » Tue May 14, 2013 6:53 pm

I'm getting some events that should happen in DC in the Mojave Wasteland.

Two men talking about an oasis to the North appeared in the Toxic Waste Dump East of Novac. Strangely enough, in an earlier play through, the assassins hired by Burke showed up in the same area.

Not sure if this is necessarily a bug, and it's not even a huge issue, just wanted to put it out there. Anyone else have something similar occur?

It may be a mod conflict, running my still WIP NVEC mod, New Vegas Quest items pop-up and New Vegas Characters roaming the capital wasteland...

Just my two cents :)

Where did this happen in the Mojave exactly? There are some tests that Obsidian made with the special encounter spawning system that are still in. So I am interested if it's that.

I was playing an unmodded directory at the time when the men looking for the Oasis showed up. Though Mr. Burke's assassins did show up on a modded game.

And it was at the Toxic Waste Dump site. Can't say if that's the exact name, but it's just East of Novac. Pretty easy to find.

Yep that's the place where Obsidian made tests to implement the FO3 special encounter system. It never was finished and actually implemented. I assume they only placed the triggers there to to test some stuff. They left it in because the quests never got filled in in NV so  the Triggers where harmless.

With TTW these triggers are getting now a function and spawn encounters there but the wrong one. It's a pretty funny thing :) . We have to deactivate these 4 Triggers in the next TTW update. It clearly has to be considered as bug.

No worry for my own mod for NV I am working on. It works basically the same but it will be a complete independent system

If only someone could implement the random events that COULD happen in the Mojave. Ah well, thanks for checking Sesom, I'll make a bug report.

I can add them pretty easily

Post by sesom » Wed May 15, 2013 11:34 am

I can add them pretty easily to the TTW version of my mod. But there aren't a lot form FO3 that could realistically happen in the Mojave too. I already use some of them slightly changed so that they fit for the environment.

The Mojave has only this one Special Encounter trigger.  So a external mod is needed anyway to place the other 50 to make it feel like random encounters.

Thanks for the Bug Report btw I forgot to made one.

Not really an issue but I wanted to share a DC event in Mojave I had.

I brought Jericho with me to Vegas. We were at the Gun Runners', and as I looked toward the Lucky 38 tower, Jericho said, "Up there? That's a good spot for a sniper"

Yeah Bethesda did a great job with generic dialoge lines :) . Very handy for modding. It's a lot harder to find fitting lines i in NV.
