Problematic consol commands

Post by Zatsuya » Fri May 31, 2013 10:29 pm

So I now have time to take ttw for a spin and i'm starting fresh mods and all. I plan to make note of all the things i notice that might be helpful for others that start a new game or may run into it.

First given that there is plenty of NV content that is added in good springs I wanted to jump once i got out of the vault, grab some of my favorite gear, then jump back. To do this I sued Coc ****. Unfortunately it would seem that this doesn't work for fallout 3 locations and instead you are taken to what I can only describe as limbo. Or just a black room. so for those of you that want to jump ahead I suggest using the clipping toggle and just run to the train station and do it as it should be done.

More to follow im sure...

I haven't had this problem..

I haven't had this problem...I used coc goodsprings without issue as you said. I was then able to coc _____ back to the capital wasteland. I did this while testing a few things for the Groovatron.

Here's what I have to say on the matter. Be sure you are typing the exact name of the location. A spelling error could cause an issue.

Make sure the playing you're "coc"ing to is one that has been confirmed as a safe coc location. In my experience, there are simply some locations that disagree with the concept.

Mods mods mods....Whether it's a mod that changes lighting, or a mod that adds a gun, ANY mod MIGHT change some resources around. Best way to be sure, disable them, but even then it could still leave lingering files.

Simply solution, don't do it. If the only reason you do it is for benefit, you shouldn't be doing it. You're now working with two wastelands. This means you can't travel between them like you would in and out of Megaton. There are checks that happen at the train stations. Simply transporting yourself somewhere and moving back, as innocent as it may sound, could end up causing problems.

Don't think of coc as something for you to use, it's more for a debugging process and I would never suggest it's use for personal gain.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

I have this issue as well, for me I always use 'coc springvale' to avoid the black void.

"coc megaton" takes you to a limbo cell, but it did that in vannilla FO3. I'm sure there are other, similar, ones.

I would stress that you make certain you are typing the correct name for the cell you want.

coc'ing into goodsprings

Post by dawe1313 » Sat Jun 01, 2013 3:41 am

coc'ing into goodsprings before completing the NV chargen/tutorial sequence can lead to very BAD THINGS. like hosing your entire save game and rendering most of mojave quests unplayable.

make sure the first time you go to the mojave, you do the train thing, and go through the the whole doc mitchell part. after that it shouldn't be a problem
