Modding advice and seperate play throughs

Post by villanut » Thu Dec 01, 2016 10:51 am

Hi guys,

I've had Fallout 3 Goty and Fallout New Vegas Goty for a while now and having never played either I thought I'd heavily mod Fallout 3 play that and then New Vegas.

After getting Fallout 3 to run on Windows 10 I installed lots of texture mods and game changing mods such as FWE and MM.Once I began a play through the game crashed quite frequently and I feel you could tell the age of the game, this began to get very annoying and I eventually quit and uninstalled.

Can I install TOTW and then play Fallout 3 and New Vegas as two separate games ? I'd prefer to start New Vegas after Fallout 3 fresh with a new character.

Also can is there a guide to follow for installation and mods maybe ?

I want to get the game looking as good as possible with maybe a few game changing mods such as mmm and Fwe if that's possible,I'm not too bothered about add on quests.

Oh and mod suggestions if possible please.

Many thanks in advance for any advice

Well yes you can play the FO3

Well yes you can play the FO3 portion first. When completed you can then start a new game with a new character and start in FONV. There is a mod I believe that will allow you to do so. Just drawing a blank right now since personally I've never used it myself. But if you don't find it somebody will most likely post what it is and how to use it.

Also just to point out that when playing FO3 in TTW it uses the FONV engine and seems to be much more stable and thusly more enjoyable.

Other than TTW's own guide

Other than TTW's own guide for installation I do not know of others except that guide created by AdonisVII called "Worlds of Tomorrow" at STEP http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Adonis_VII/TTW which is more involved but produces a wonderful result.

I completed his guide (which is under renovations) with some BS&T but had incredibly stable game play for many months.  I do now occasionally get CTD when transitioning through doors, but suspect that is related to demands on certain cells (Rivet City area) and some additional mods I thought I couldn't do without.  It is still much more stable than my STEP Skyrim install.

I am certainly not an old hand at installing mods, but know that good technique and restraint pays off as stable gameplay.

Disable the patch that requires that as a master.
