Question about Outcast Trading

Post by The Mediocre Mr Rook » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:30 pm

How much does it take to get permission to enter the fort proper? I've gotten the Outcasts up to idolized (was surprising at first, since I don't have the reputation optional on) and gotten the conversation option that tells me the patrols will be told that I'm helpful, but the door to enter the fort is still Hard locked and red. I haven't tried breaking in, but I assume if I do they'll still all try to kill me. Is this bugged, or do I just need to keep going? I had assumed when I first got the "accepted" message that the fort would open up like vanilla at Idolized.

Also, since this is also the "suggestions" subforum, this would probably be a good place to ask about maybe balancing his vendor inventory to have more... anything. Most of the time when I get there, I end up just giving away stuff for free in the hopes of unlocking the fort, since he only carries a handful of each ammo type and nothing particularly noteworthy in terms of weapons/armor/mods. I understand that must be to balance out him not having the traditional vendor mark up, so that you can't trade for a huge amount high v:w stuff, but it mostly just means you can only trade a couple of weapons every 3 days and anything more than that just gets thrown away. I feel like it would work better if he had normal vendor mark up (maybe even higher than average) and a lot of really high value stuff, so if you managed to bring in a huge haul of tri-beam laser rifles you could trade for a bunch of mini nukes or some reinforced combat armor or a brush gun. If it wasn't semi lore-breaking I'd suggest adding the unique GRAs to his inventory for really big trade ins.

In Fallout 3 the Outcasts

Post by Risewild » Thu Jul 28, 2016 4:02 pm

In Fallout 3 the Outcasts never give access to their base. It is always locked. The player can always lockpick it and enter.

If the player has a high relationship with them and if no Outcast sees the lockpicking happening, then it is safe to enter their base.

TTW keeps it that way.

Someone else will have to take a look at your suggestion since I am not a Dev .

Oh! That explains it then. I haven't played 3 in a while, must've been remembering it wrong. Or I had a mod or something.

Sorry for bothering you.
