13) X-Files reference on

Post by TAWM » Mon Aug 28, 2017 11:55 pm

13) X-Files reference on Mothership Zeta

when you go through biological research in Mothership Zeta you find two dead npcs on the operating chairs and the two npcs one male one female are named Mulder and Scully. X-Files show has a ton of UFO abduction shows.  Also the movie has Mulder rescue Scully from the alien spaceship so this would be pretty fitting.

14)  Gigantic footprint

Wondering around edge of the map of the Capital Wasteland you find a gigantic footprint in the ground that can fit an entire house in it.  The gigantic footprint is a reference to Godzilla and was actually in an older fallout game.

15) Twilight Zone theme music in Tranquility Lane

Upon entering Tranquility Lane and after talking to Betty the Twilight Zone theme song plays.

16) Dead witch under house Tranquilty Lane

Upon exploring tranquality lane you find feet sticking out of the bottom of a house with ruby slippers on.  A reference to the wizard of OZ with the wicked witch of the east being killed by dorthy's house falling on her.

17) Running around the Capital Wasteland you run into an unarmed man named Caine fighting off raiders trying to attack random wastelanders.  This a reference to the Kung Fu tv series.

18) In Operation Anchorage in the base camp you run into two corpses one named Sgt. Hartman the other Private Pyle.  Hartman has blood around his torso and Pyle is missing his head.  This is a reference to the movie full metal jacket.

That article gives a good breakdown of what can and can't be done.

Youtube being owned by Google is running more of a CYA structure than anything else which is why some stay and some go. More of a complaint and remove system. But if it's done as satire or parody it's fine as fair use and with not "selling" anything or making money from it they're less likely to care.

The ideas are awesome. I agree on the older more obscure aspects. Like on Zeta you could also do Star Trek references like the tribble or a red shirt skeleton. Little shop of horrors in Vault 22. Creature from the Black Lagoon in PL or maybe a Nautilus reference on the Chinese sub for 20,000 Leagues

Other potential references could be for Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

19) Bloody Bunny Rabbit Suit

Post by TAWM » Tue Aug 29, 2017 7:11 am

19) Bloody Bunny Rabbit Suit in Germantown Police HQ

In New Germantown police HQ you find a bloody Bunny Rabbit Suit.

This is a real world reference to the practice of police in brutality in Philadelphia under Mayor Frank Rizzo in which the police would dress up as bunny rabbits and beat suspects brutally in interrogation to get them to sign confessions.  When the suspects would appear in court and say they were beaten by a guy wearing a bunny rabbit custom the judge and jury would dismiss the claims figuring the suspect had others beat them up in lock up and were just spinning a tall tale about being beaten in interrogation by a man or men wearing bunny rabbit suits.  Considering how the Chinese in the United States were treated before the Great War police brutality is not a stretch of the imagination.

20) Dead Star Trek members on mothership zeta

Since it's been brought up already might as well add it to the list of my suggestions.

21) Spartacus in the Pitt

During the slave rebellion one of the slaves is wearing legionaire armor and is named Spartacus.

This is a reference to the real spartacus from history who lead a slave rebellion against the Roman Empire.

22) Four Horseman of the Apocalypse in Arlington Cemetery

In Arlington Cemetery you approach four figures wearing black clothes one named Death, Famine, War and Conquest.  You try talking to them but no dialogue option opens after you trying to talking to all 4 of them they vanish without a trace.

This is a reference to the four horseman of the apocalypse in the Book of revelations from the bible.  In the bible the horseman Pestilence doesn't exist instead it's Conquest but Conquest or famine would get the point across.  This was also an encounter in older fallout games.

23) In Rivet City on the Bridge (interior) you find the skeleton of Lieutenant Commander Philip Francis Queeg

This is a reference to the Caine Mutiny.

24) Bank Robbery by Protectrons against Enclave guarding the bank

In a new interior a bunch of Brotherhood Protectrons are trying to break into the bank and steal the gold inside but have to deal with the enclave guarding the bank.  The names of the protectrons are Kelly, Big Joe, Crapgame, Oddball, Little Joe, Cowboy and Babra.  This is reference to the movie Kelly's heroes which has a bunch of disgruntled GI's fight their way through enemy lines to rob a bank full of gold held by the Germans during WW2.

We will not be including other mods or other mod content for Wild Wasteland encounters.

I also think that we are not making new assets for Wild Wasteland encounters (after all, NV wild wasteland encounters use normal assets from FNV and FO3 [like the alien stuff]).

Yeah, WW has always used native assets, so it's beyond the scope of TTW to add encounters that REQUIRE 3rd party mods. That would need to be a 3rd party mod itself. Plenty of encounters can be done without needing anything beyond vanilla/dlc assets.

To be honest I once started a WW mod for TTW. But I got stuck making my first encounter and lost the will to work on it cheeky.

I did make a few custom assets for that, but it was supposed to be a mod for TTW, and not part of it laugh.

If assets are FREELY

Post by jlf65 » Tue Aug 29, 2017 7:46 pm

If assets are FREELY available and reasonably sized, that should be okay. Like Roy says about the ST red shirts. I worked that into my own TTW Phaser mods (the shirts used with the permission stated by the author on the mod page, and the phasers with permission explicitly from the author). Things like that I can see being worked into the TTW WW. Things requiring something like a 50MB companion mod or a 600MB quest, no way in hell, even with permission.
