Fallout 3 use only?

Post by Briggsware » Thu Sep 10, 2015 10:15 pm

Hello, My questions for this mod are;

1. Because I am purely only using this mod for fallout free can I only use fallout 3 texture/mesh mods to make it look nice? By this I mean not merging NV mods with fallout 3 mods? Making it a little easier to get the right look fir my liking... Or is it that I HAVE to use NV mods to make it work and look normal??? Let me know please!

2. Are they any must have mods, such as fixes and patches as well as anything else??? Remember I am very new to this so let me know!

3. I started a new game just to see if it would make it out the vault with out crashing at the start, and it did! Very happy how smooth it is, BUT why does everyone in the vault use 9mm gun?! And the seem under powered??? For example more than 3 shoots to the head and there okay when using a 9mm.. But 2 hits with a bat and they explode... Now I might just be finding little problems, when I should be happly I have it fu**ing working but yeah, is that normal?! Feel free to ask me anything and thanks for the best mod/game ever!!! You guys are the best!!!

9mm pistol is there for 3

Post by AnvilOfWar » Fri Sep 11, 2015 5:17 am

9mm pistol is there for 3 reasons, 1. It's the NV engines "0 skill" pistol, 2. Due to how repair works in NV one can't be given a 10mm that's heavily damaged since you'd obtain enough of them to repair it too almost full anyway, therefore completely bypassing the "Tier 0" guns weapons. 3. Also because the laser pistol is still the energy weapon "Tier 0" pistol if you where doing a energy weapon character. Yes the baseball bat does kill faster in this case, but you are giving up ranged attacks for the need to be close.

In modding in TTW in general you will find that making things pretty usually comes down to using textures, most FO3 textures can be used with TTW with no problems, if however the texture needed a esp/esm for some reason, then you need to convert the esp/esm plugin.

Fallout New Vegas mods usually work without problem (it is the NV engine after all) there ARE some caveat's, so be sure to read the FAQ: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/faq#whatfnvmodswork

Mods that add things specifically to NV vendors (depending on how they add the content) usually are NV side exclusive. There are other mods that add things to the leveled lists, so you may well find them in the CW side as well, provided you are using a merge patch. Many TTW specific mods and high quality conversions already exist, be sure to look into the mod releases and mod conversions forums for specifics. There may also be patches to extend functions of NV mods into the Capital wasteland, really you will have to do some homework depending on your tastes in mods.

Okay,

Thanks for the Super fast responses!

that makes sense, I wouldn't like to leave vault 101 with TB51 power armor and a Tesla cannon.... I understand now why this has been done! thanks for clearing that up!

So would it be fine if I just went ahead and installed, these???

And 9 mm is the most common

Post by KeltecRFB » Fri Sep 11, 2015 1:24 pm

And 9 mm is the most common handgun caliber in America.  As for trauma value, in real life, baseball bats do more trauma than 9 MM.  Actually, it has been proven that most people die from the shock of being shot than actual tissue damage.  But being hit by a baseball bat is much worse than being hit by a 9MM.  The tide does not really start to turn until your big game and anti-material rifle calibers.  The main draws of using a handgun over a baseball bat include, you reduce your chances of getting hurt, less visceral for the squeamish, and lastly shock value.  More people are simply more scared of the loud report and presence of a firearm than a baseball bat.

@Briggs, if you sneak, use

Post by KeltecRFB » Fri Sep 11, 2015 3:47 pm

@Briggs, if you sneak, use the combat sights, and shoot for vitals, you will be able to kill with 1 shots.  Not every time but more than just walking/running around.  As for Dynavision 3, I just started using it after using ENB for a long time.  I decided with my new video card and using Dynavision, I liked the graphics better than using ENB and also I can save some computer resources for mod content.  Although, that does not mean more than the maximum mods you should be running.

For reference, the maximum amount of mods (plugins) you should be using is in the 80 - 130 range, depending on your machine. The hard limit is 149 IIRC, but most systems choke before that.
