Post by SanesRage » Tue Sep 20, 2016 2:55 am

Hello.  i just found this nice mod a few days ago and downloaded FOMM to install, but im getting errors all over the place.  I know to hit cancel when opening Package Manager, but after that i pick the FOMM install file it lags for a few mins then crash's.  any avice on how to install via FOMM or is there a NMM installer?  BTW im running win 10 home 64x.  not sure if it helps.

Thank you

First thing, you're using the old FOMM. Switch to the newer one.

Never had a problem with that in Windows 7 Pro.

I only had one problem

Post by hardkopy » Mon Sep 26, 2016 10:57 am

I only had one problem installing with NMM and that was at the end of the installation (before activating the files) the program froze. TTW is still grayed out in the categories section and does not have a green tick but is still recognised as being active as there is only the option to disable. Optional files installed and enabled w/o issues as they were only small packages.

I opted for the above installation method due to FOMM (0.14.11.12 ) crashing on auto detect during install and after also crashing when selecting settings after installation.

I check all files manually after installing via NMM and they were all present and correct despite NMM freezing at installation end.

The biggest issue I had with both FOMM and NMM is that when they did a significant update they'd make you reinstall all of your mods and I seemed to always get things completely messed up when I did that.  I've since switched to Mod Organizer and I'm liking it better so far, although it does have some quirks that take some getting used to.

I've never had FOMM do that

I've never had FOMM do that ever.

NMM I quit using precisely because it did that.

Actually now that I think

Actually now that I think about it I had another issue with FOMM and NMM.  They really don't seem to like each other.  I was using NMM for Skyrim and FOMM for Fallout before.  Sometimes I'd forget and load Fallout with NMM (I may have the order I used them in reversed) and then they'd both freak out and crash when I tried to use either of them for Fallout.  FOMM generally worked pretty well for me as long as I wasn't using NMM for anything.  Eventually I did always manage to get my data directory borked though and have to delete and reinstall everything due to having partially installed/uninstalled mods overwriting themselves tons of times as I tried out different mods and moved my load order around and stuff.

Yeah, NMM and FOMM do not

Yeah, NMM and FOMM do not play nice together at all, NXMM interferes with all kinds of stuff. It's garbageware and I refuse to use it and discourage it's use in general.

MO is great for Skyrim, wouldn't use anything else there.

I use WryeBash for Oblivion.

I am getting the same error

I am getting the same error on FOMM. Not entirely sure if it's the same crashdump. I am using it on Windows 10. I am pretty sure I got it working on Windows 7.
