I'm not sure what he means by not being compatible with needs mods.
I think it means that the food you get from using that mod will not affect hunger/thirst/sleep/etc values from "needs mods".

We try to avoid feature creep so here's my ideas for a few. All these recipes will restore 5 health in non-hardcore and +1 each for food sanitizer. Add 5 to food restoration for having the food sanitizer, and will be 25-35 Survival required. If you have some other simple low level recipes post them here, and we'll consider them but I think this is plenty for early game.
Steamed Rad Roach
restores 30 food, damages rads by 5, reduced strength for 60 seconds
Bloat Fly Smoothie
restores 40 food, restores 10 thirst
Ant Nog
restores 15 food, restores 10 thirst, int - 2 for 5 minutes, str +1 for 5 minutes
Fire Ant Nog
restores 15 food, int - 2 for 5 minutes, per +1 for 5 minutes, +25% fire resist for 3 minutes
Ant Bits
restores 35 food, damages thirst by 10
Fire Ant Bits
restores 35 food, damages thirst by 20, 10% fire resistance for 3 minutes
Mole Rat Steak
restores 35 food, damages thirst by 10

That would work great in my games.
Awesome. Just a few recipes, but covers quite a bit.
Hmm - back to grills. You need working ovens or grills in working diners. For example, Dot's Diner in Canterbury Commons needs an oven. How does Joe cook any food if there's no oven/grill? There's not even a campfire for the traders in the town circle.
Another would be the Brass Lantern. It's the main source of food in Megaton, but doesn't have an oven or grill. In fact, until you buy the oven for your house, there's nowhere to cook in the entire town!
I haven't checked yet, but I suspect that the cafe in Tenpenny Tower also lacks a working oven.
It's not that these places have an oven, but you can't use it, they don't have ANYTHING that they could use themselves for cooking the cooked food they sell to everyone. There isn't an oven or grill in the entirety of Canterbury Commons, or Megaton until you buy one.
There are campfires and grills everywhere, finding a place to cook has never been an issue with me. You can also use the companion update and hire Jericho, he can make a campfire anywhere.
Putting working ovens around defeats the purpose of upgrading your home in megaton and tenpenny.
There's plenty of places to cook.
Something else Grib mentioned is you can make a crap ton of Caravan Lunches with survival skill of 30. These restore 300 food, so I probably won't add the recipes either. The ingredients are all over DC.

There are campfires and grills everywhere... in NV. They're few and far between in DC. Like I said, your house is the ONLY place to cook in Megaton... assuming you've bought the oven. I just finally got enough money to do that. There's also, nowhere to cook in Canterbury Commons.
I guess this will just go in my own mod, then. It's fine if you don't work it in... it keeps the base TTW nice and streamlined. Adding the extras is what mods are for. I'll put together what I have and put it in my main mod release thread. Thanks for the feedback, though. Is it okay if I "borrow" some of those recipes above?
There are more places to cook in DC with the optional plugin than there are in NV, you just have to remember where they are. Try making a map.
As for the recipes, this hasn't been decided yet. I'm in favor of them because I don't really want to waste the lunchboxes on food.

I really should - I run into working grills in the weirdest places... an old park with no one there but a yao guai, under a buoy in Point Lookout...

Okay, I'll hold off on the recipes then. I'm just making a few ovens/grills in places I think there should be one, but there isn't anywhere nearby. And yes, I prefer to turn lunchboxes into nuclear mines. ![]()

I'll check it out. I'm always on the lookout for good cooking mods. I love to cook in real life, so I tend to be disappointed in games at the cooking, or lack thereof.
