Is .45 ammo sold in DC?

Post by CelticVale » Fri Jul 08, 2016 7:03 pm

Had a quick look in game at rivet city & megaton vendors (lvl35), but haven't encountered .45 ammo. Are you able to get it in DC? If not, is there a mod that integrates appropriate weapons from all the fo3/nv DLCs?

Thank you.

IIRC, in TTW, the .45 ammo can be crafted with the Pitt ammo press, after the Pitt questline is completed. Other ammo types can be broken down into base ammo press materials, and then crafted into .45 (or any other type of firearms ammo for that matter).

I haven't played TTW in a while but I swear I've seen it on merchants before, it was just really, really rare. Are you using any mods that might alter vendor lists and have you made a merge patch?

Produces the programming equivalent of coffee stains.

So far I have only been able to find .45-70 (rifle) ammunition for sale in the Capital Wasteland, to be more specific haven't seen any vendor in either Rivet City or Tenpenny Tower selling any kind of .45 ammo for pistols. I am running TTW 2.9.4 version with TTW WMX mod, character level 48 in the saved game I used to check them vendors.

(Note the difference between the longer .45-70 rifle round and .45 ACP short pistol round; These are entirely different incompatible rounds for different weapons.)

With this kind of setup (vanilla TTW with WMX) it would seem that unless the Pitt ammo press is used to craft .45 pistol ammo, one would have to travel to Mojave and visit the Gunrunners or Honest Hearts DLC to obtain .45 pistol ammo/weapons.

IMHO, it does seem odd that the high powered .45-70 rifle rounds are fairly easily acquired in both wastelands, but the less powerful .45 pistol rounds either need to be made from scratch with the ammo press or bought from the Mojave only..

That was a design choice by Obsidian not to include the .45 ammo in most of the vendor lists.

Do I recall correctly that merchants in NV wouldn't stock .45 until after you had completed Honest Hearts?  Maybe the merchants in DC are working the same way.

I'm in the middle of working on CaliberX, and next up is working on the leveled lists. I'll be able to tell you if .45 is enabled after HH or not in the next couple days... provided I remember to come post about. Better ask in a couple days time so I see this thread again, gettin old and can't remember everything.

That is correct, .45 is stocked by merchants after one returns from Honest Hearts. Which makes sense seeing as the weapons that are chambered in that caliber are available in the expansion. See the "locations" note at the bottom of the page, it gives the vendors that usually have good stock in them, after the expansion is completed. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/.45_Auto
