I just want to address the continuity issues between the two games using a list that I think can use some changes. (Taken from the wiki)
-
It can be inferred during dialogue with Veronica Santangelo that the Courier does not know where they were born. (Is some what of a continuity issue, given I think it was said they had the lone wanderer at the purifier) -
The Courier can tell Cass that they [the Courier] do not know what fish is. Or, on the contrary: an intelligent Courier may test her knowledge about fish, clearly aware of their nature although they are practically non-existent in California or the Mojave Wasteland and may only be found in Lake Mead or Zion Canyon. (Again another continuity issue given that DC is an ocean connected city through a lake. Plus fish men) -
In Dead Money, it is implied that the Courier does not know what FEV is through their interaction with Elijah. (If the lone wanderer did that supermutant quest or even the main quest they should have a passing knowledge about the FEV by now.) -
Dialogue choices throughout Honest Hearts heavily imply that the Courier has never heard of Christianity. (The lone wanderer would have to get amnesia to literally forget the passage that his father drills into his brain and made so important to the entire game.) -
One of the epilogues of Old World Blues states that the Courier knows very little about communism or high schools, though this is an inference from the X-8 computer system. (The lonewanderer took a freaking GOAT.) -
A male Courier with the Lady Killer perk can ask if the Lonesome Drifter is 17, and then express relief after the Drifter says he is 28, implying the Courier impregnated (or believes he impregnated) a woman in Montana around 18 years ago. (I'd be really creeped out about age of consent in the vault if a 23 year old has a 17 year old kid. The lone wanderer was born in 2258, the events of New vegas take place in 2281)
Speaking of which there is also a 4 year gap between the end of fallout 3 and new vegas (2277-2281) So the ten years later screen doesn't really fit well either. I do realize that's a short amount of time to settle a town, but gold rush towns had been settled in for a lot less... also this is the pc character we're talking about so it'd make sense considering he's such a driving force in the world.
So what I am suggesting is some possible continuity fixes where they occur, and maybe give the wanderer a reason to board that train. What do you guys think?
