Is Deputy Weld at megaton supposed to attack hostiles?

I got to megaton to find a feral ghoul at the entrance, but deputy weld completely ignored it and refused to attack it. Is deputy weld meant to attack hostiles?

I had increased wasteland spawns on and i guess that spawned it. Was just surprised to see deputy weld ignoring it, but its not a big deal.

He definitely attacks

He definitely attacks hostiles in my game. Every single time my char leaves Megaton, there are attacks (mostly ants) and he gets killed while defending. I've set him as essential because of the constant attacks - and his inability to stand against them (although he tries as said).

Hm, not sure, will check. But it's better to have him essential anyway IMO. I'm using Autogates so my char has no chance of helping him as he is killed while waiting for the gate to open. It's actually a bit annoying with the constant attacks. Guess it's MMM? But I don't have that with MMM in FO3.

Not in my game cheeky and just found out why, I have the GotY edition surprise.

If Deputy Weld, Megaton's protectron guard, is destroyed after Broken Steel is installed, Deputy Steel will assume Deputy Weld's post. In the Game of the Year edition this is not the case: if Deputy Weld is destroyed, Deputy Steel will remain in the armory.



And on Deputy Weld wiki page:





  • Deputy Weld will respawn after a while if he is killed.

Didn't know that. But I'll keep him as essential. In my game, it would just mean that Deputy Weld would be killed and then be replaced by Deputy Steel who would be killed. Makes me wonder what Stockholm is doing. Not the best sentry in the world I guess.
