The Enclave Power Armours

Post by Eclipse » Sat Sep 06, 2014 7:05 am

Hello, I'm quite new to Tale of Two Wastelands so I'm not quite sure where I should be making this thread.

I'm making this thread to get additional information regarding what the Enclave wears in the game. I've searched it a bit and I believe they are meant to wear old Remnants Power Armour in early levels and then wear the Enclave Power Armour later on. However, I'm not quite sure if a mod is changing this but it seems that there are two types of Remnants Power Armour in my game, one of which is called Enclave Power Armour and the other is called Advanced Power Armour. I believe they have the same stats, though the Advanced one has a graphical glitch (glows white).

But all of this was not my problem. I believed I installed COL Enclave Replacer, though I forgot to convert it, so after seeing the Enclave Power Armour and Advanced Power Armour, I successfully converted COL Enclave Replacer for New Vegas and it worked, or at least I thought it did. I'm at the part where you first encounter the Enclave in Project Purity and all the troopers that dropped wore the right COL Enclave armour, so I thought it worked, however when I encountered actual troopers you could fight, they were wearing Enclave Power Armour along with the COL helmet. In the scene where Autumn confronts James, his bodyguards wore the right armour too, which leads me to believe that "cinematic" NPCs are wearing the right items while the other ones are not.

I'd be perfectly fine with that leveled list as long as I get a confirmation that by reaching higher levels, they will be wearing the COL Enclave replacer armours, as I would just hold back from doing the main quest until I'm at a higher level as I'm currently level 12.

Thank you for your time.

Edit: After replaying the scene, it seems that the Advanced Power Armours are pretty random as they appeared this time. On top of that, since I got my hand on both Enclave Power Armour and Advanced Power Armour, I compared the stats:

The Advanced Power Armour has a DT of 24, is a Heavy Armour and is worth 4996 caps.

The Advanced Power Helmet has a DT of 5, is a Light Armour and is worth 1699 caps

The Enclave Power Armour has a DT of 40, is a Medium Armour and is worth 779 caps.

The Enclave Power Helmet has a DT of 9, is a Light Armour and is worth 110 caps.

Also he Advanced Power Helmet does not have the Project Nevada visor has opposed to the Enclave Power Helmet and they all have the same effects. I'm really wondering why the glitchy Advanced Power Armour who is obviously a bad armour compared to its exact counterpart, is worth so much.

i couldn't tell you right

Post by Puppettron » Sun Sep 07, 2014 11:11 am

i couldn't tell you right offhand what's happening, but it looks like the "enclave power armor" is set for fo3 stats, and just had the dr straight switched to dt, which would also account for the cost diffference -- fo3 had a smaller economy scale, so 800 caps was f'n immense in that game, as opposed to fnv where you can get 800 caps by rolling out of bed wrong.

what i'd suggest is opening your LO in edit and tracking down this enclave power armor to see where it's coming from.  an easy way to start is, if you're using nvse, dropping the armor, consoling, clicking the armor, and gbo, which will return the Base Object (formid) for the armor.  that number alone will tell you which mod in your LO it belongs to, therefore giving your search through the files the best possible starting point.

A big thank you to Pavel and Puppettron for the help, turns out a mod called Return of the Enclave (which I believed to have uninstalled long ago) was conflicting with the armours, now works like a charm.

Just FYI Enclave PA is FO3's Enclave/ Advanced PA MkII. Advanced PA is a non unique variant of Remnants and is added by TTW.

My project Dash is on Kickstarter!
