Post by Thenryb » Sat Apr 11, 2015 7:40 pm

Has anyone but me noticed that the bobblehead stand in the vanilla Megaton House does not recognize or accept the survival bobblehead? You just get a message that you have no bobbleheads to display, the survival bobblehead remains in your inventory as an undroppable quest item, and the stand has an empty slot which once held the Big Guns bobblehead. Hardly a game breaker.

I have ttw installed, but the Megaton House is otherwise unmodified. It appears to be the same house that one would get playing FO3 alone.

Thanks. I have not purchased any of Moira's boring "themes" but I have added some other stuff like the workbench, reloading bench, infirmary and cooking hotplate. I do not recall that any of the "themes" affect the bobblehead stand which is there when you first aquire the home.

The base bobblehead form wasn't replaced, it just got a new mesh and name, so if it's not showing up that seems to be a conflict. You can check it by running FNVEdit, leave your entire load order checked and load. Once it finishes right click and go to "Other->Build Reference Info" and then put check marks next to FalloutNV.esm and Fallout3.esm and click OK. That'll take a minute or so to process and then you can expand TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm, look for the "Misc. Item" section and expand it, and the very top two items will be the bobble heads. Click on them and look on the bottom of the right hand pane for "Reference By" and that will show you where they're used. If they aren't in "BobbleheadDisplayTenpennyScript" and "BobbleheadDisplayMegatonScript" something is messing with them. Even if they are, there still could be a conflict somewhere.

I did as suggested. The conflict was with a NV mod called Bloody Mess less Bloody. For reasons I do not understand, within that mod were two miscellaneous items-bobbleheads for Big Guns and Small Guns (why in NV mod I know not).

After unticking that mod and using the console to place the survival bobblehead at me, the stand recognized and accepted it.

Yeah, well, I did do a site search before posting. Not sure which thread is the "standard troubleshooting thread". I appreciate Gribbles' guidance.

They're stickied in the Technical Support topic, which is actually where your question should have gone, instead of hijacking this thread.
