A General Mod INSTALLATION/ACTIVATION Order Please

Post by DireWulvyn » Tue May 19, 2015 2:33 am

Rufff....!

OK...been modding Fallouts for awhile, game installs and modding req.'s [i.e.-NVSE, CASM, MCM, and so on...] are quick for me now.

[I won't tell you how many times I've had to delete and re-download the base games and reinstall utilities/tools, etc., due to my fumbling attempts, corrupted saves, or borked files...nerf...].

I know enough to be able to use FNVEdit for some simple editing and making merges. I know that some mods need to be activated before others, I know about overwriting files, using patches, editing ini's, replacing files, updating, yadayada

OK...in short I can do basic modding and make it work...

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR LOAD ORDER!

What I would like to know is what is the best GENERAL ACTIVATION/INSTALLATION ORDER for mods once everything is ready to go?

I'm NOT looking for specific mod titles, just a kind of categorized grouping for the activation/installation sequence.

[I know some things got to be done first, but what about the rest?]

I.E.; Overhauls, Buildings, Companions, Creatures, NPC's, Weapons, Armor/Clothing, Immersion, Quests, New Lands, Flora, Weather, Utilities, Textures, etc., etc., etc,...

I definitely read the install instructions concerning the mods I'm using [ex.-TTW DarNUI or TTW EVE have great instructions].

I did find an old reference to Oblivion that listed a brief general activation order, but it's OLD. The only other thing I've seen [so far] is on the S.T.E.P. wiki, but that's for Skyrim.

[They're viable but I'd like to see something directly for Fallouts]

THX

"Puppettron", you are correct. Go figure I didn't see it when I was looking around.

Found it at;

http://wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas

Looks like a good guide which covers New Vegas but it still refers to specific mods.

[It should be easy enough to figure out what 'category' an 'unlisted' mod should be via comparison to what is shown on the site]

Guess I'll have to learn how to use MO now.

[Want to start modding Skyrim anyway and I don't see another mod manager app/tool for it]

Adonis has been making a STEP

Adonis has been making a STEP for TTW also.

There are tons of "what mods" thread on the site, use the google site: command to more easily search TTW.

Roy, you say Adonis is making a STEP wiki for TTW?

GRANDIOSE!

I've got a general idea as to what should be done at what point, but more input is always desired.

Dammit!... Now I've found those STEP WIKI's and I wish it had been before I posted, because this query wouldn't have been written at all....
