Lonesome Road Ending Perks interaction with "Almost Perfect" Perk.

Post by AnvilOfWar » Thu Jul 30, 2015 8:00 pm

My question is this, the +1 SPECIAL one receives at the end of Lonesome Road from any of the following perks:

"The Bear-Slayer", "Dead Man's Burden", "Divide Survivor" and "Scourge of the East".

How is it supposed to interact with "Almost Perfect" from the perk list? Other SPECIAL increases I have found, such as "Ant Sight" or "Ant Might", the Trait "Small Frame" follow the following pattern, Almost Perfect sets your SPECIALs to 9, and then the additional Perks add on top of that, becoming a 10 AGI in case of a character with Small Frame + Almost Perfect. Should the Lonesome Road perks follow the same system or do they add their increase differently since you can pick "any" SPECIAL to increase?

I thought that the Almost Perfect wouldn't accumulate with other SPECIAL changing perks if those perks were taken first, but I am not sure, I rarely reach level 30 in my testings

From what I've seen, the Almost Perfect perk will make your SPECIAL 9 if they are below 9. Any perk that adds to your SPECIAL that is taken before will not give you a 10 with Almost perfect. For example, you take a rank in Intense Training and bring your strength from 7 to 8 at level 20, and take the Almost Perfect Perk at level 30, your strength is set to 9, not 10, thus making the Intense Training perk a wasted perk at that point.  However, you take Almost Perfect at level 30, then take Intense Training and apply it to strength, you have a 10 strength.

Yeah, almost perfect raises all your SPECIALS to 9, applied over other perks.

If you had 7 STR took ant might, and then almost perfect, you get 9, not 10.

I remember this because in order to get 10 luck in FO3, I had to remember to drop the lucky 8 ball before taking the perk, otherwise I would be at 9 luck. (Taking almost perfect, and then dropping with 8 ball would leave you with 8 luck.)
