Nine years?

Looking the Fallout timeline Fallout New Vegas is only three years after Fallout 3, Not really a complaint but just a curious question.  Why a nine year gap rather then three?

  October 11: Fallout: New Vegas intro - The Courier is ambushed and shot in the head by Benny, left for dead in a shallow, unmarked grave in Goodsprings Cemetery. Victor finds the body and retrieves it, and the Courier makes a miraculous recovery in the care of Doc Mitchell.

Nine years rather than three because:

FO:New Vegas was pushed back to give enough time for the events in The Divide to unfold plausibly. You leave DC, head all the way across the country, stop in New Reno for a while doing who knows what, then do some courier work, found a city, settle down in that city, do more courier work, accidently blow up the city you founded, do more courier work, then get shot in the head.

Going by dialog with The Lonesome Drifter in the Mojave, New Vegas should be at least 18 years after FO3. I guess nine years is a compromise of sorts.

Go here for more information on why New Vegas being only three years after makes NO SENSE time wise.

Ah I see! That makes sense that considering that in this version the Lone Wanderer and the Courier are one and the same.

What do you base this off of?

There is a conversation the Courier can have with the Lonesome Drifter if they have the lady killer perk.

[collapsed title=Spoiler] According to the falloutwiki: "If the Courier has the Lady Killer perk, he can ask if the Lonesome Drifter is 17, implying the Courier impregnated a woman in Montana around 18 years ago." [/collapsed]

Granted such a conversation would only be "canon" if the true sex of the Courier is a male.

Also keep in mind that in official cannon the Courier and Lone Wanderer are not the same person, while the Lone Wanderer was still in the vault the Courier was out west doing their own thing.

However since in this mod its technically an alternate universe where LW and Courier are the same person it would have to be a good long while in-between games for that line to make sense.

that is fine if it is not plausible, but the year is still 2281 so could you make an .esp file that change that to say 4 years later for those of us that either do not care about the event plausibilty, i realize the events dont line up but the rest seems so official like bethesda or obsidian could have actually made it themselves for all i know, and i just have this weird feeling that it should not be 9 years that makes my mind feel like something is wrong, i know im weird but i have no experience scripting so it would be very appreciated if you could do that for me.
